Update: I'm updating this review to say that Scary Acres did follow through on their promise in the reply to my initial review, and I found that the general manager we spoke to was very pleasant and friendly despite it being an obviously chaotic night. I do have a few thoughts to add for anyone who is thinking about attending for the first time. 1) Again, GO TO THE HAUNTED WOODS FIRST if you are going on Friday or Saturday. We only saw one sign posted about it closing at midnight and it was right next to the front of the line for the woods. You won't be able to read it from the other lines. It isn't updated on the website yet but I was assured that they are working on it. 2) The fast passes are absolutely worth it. We got in and out on what was probably the busiest night of the year in a little over and hour and we did not rush straight through to the attractions. The first night we went it took over three hours to get through two attractions and it wasn't nearly as busy. 3) On that note, go early. If you really want to see this place I highly recommend not waiting until the weekend before Halloween to do so. You will have a much more enjoyable time. On busy nights they have to send groups through quickly if they hope to get everyone through and at one point our group ended up merged with both the group in front of us and the group behind us. We didn't have this problem when we went in September. 4) in regards to the attractions themselves, the haunted woods seemed longer than the other two did when we went to the first time. I'm pretty sure the first time we went through the castle we missed an entire part of the attraction because we weren't sure where we were supposed to go, so it did seem to take longer the second time. The house on the hill felt like the shortest attraction of the three. We are glad we took their offer and went back a second time. Given what we know now we would probably be willing to come back in future years but will be going early and going to the woods first.
Original review: We drove two hours to check this place out and got there at about 9:00pm and left around 12:30am after only having been through two of the three attractions because the haunted woods closes at midnight despite what the website says. We spent well over three hours waiting in line and not once did anyone tell us that one of the attractions closes at midnight. I had looked at the website several times before we went and it clearly states that all attractions stay open until everyone has a chance to go through them, as is typical for these types of haunted attractions, so they really should add on the website that this only applies to two of the three attractions. When we finally got through our second attraction and went towards the haunted woods, we were then informed that it was too late and that the ticket booth starts warning people to go to the woods first at 11:00pm, which is completely useless because we got there at 9 and it took well over an hour in line for us to get into the other two attractions. An employee basically told us that it’s not their problem, that there were signs posted and then she also told us it’s posted on the website. I looked after we left and I can find it NOWHERE on the website so I don’t know what they were talking about. They told us to, “come back tomorrow,” as if we didn’t drive two hours just for this. We will be giving our extra tickets away to someone who lives in the Omaha area because I doubt we will go back and wait another hour for a 2 minute attraction. There seemed to be fewer actors walking around entertaining the lines than other places we’ve been to and the attractions themselves were extremely brief for the amount of time we spent in line. We could have spent $10 more each for fast passes but I don’t think the combo tickets were worth the $25 to begin with. We’ll be avoiding Scary Acres in the future and going to other places with longer attractions that actually mean it when they say they don’t close until everyone has been through all the...
Read moreScary Acres is such a great experience. I felt very safe to bring my little family members there. Not only was it exciting, but the food, decorations, and safety precautions are of the utmost importance at Scary Acres. I see that it isn't just an fun, scary place to visit, but that there is A LOT OF TALENT and work put into making this more than just a fun time. The make up is phenomenal. The fact that people put so much into this, makes it not only fun, but unique and better than just any Halloween place to visit. To all the Scary Acres crew, I want to thank you for your hard work, raw talent, but mostly that you do more than that. Knowing my family is safe, and I can tell the little ones that these are people that aren't going to hurt you and this is supposed to be FUN and SCARY means so much.
The last thing anyone wants to do when they are celebrating or going out is wonder if it's a SAFE idea as well. I personally witnessed overall consistency in the rules on Scary Acres property. I saw people who received warnings about touching props and some people receiving warnings because they were raising tension and worry when it comes to the safety of the guest. Most listened. Of course, there were some guests who chose to ignore the workers. I witnessed people being escorted to the exit, and I was pleased with the professional manner it was handled. By the time I had anxious feelings about the safety of my family, and was considering leaving the area, the problem was solved. No one was mistreated and there was no scene caused by Scary Acre employees. Let me reiterate.. I AM TRULY GRATEFUL THAT I DIDN'T HAVE TO LEAVE THE LINE OR TAKE MY FAMILY SOMEWHERE ELSE. I don't want this to be misconstrued..what I'm saying is the consistency in the rules of Scary Acres makes all the difference--as in any business. I without a doubt would recommend Scary Acres to anyone wondering about it. THANK YOU AND KEEP DOING...
Read moreThis is the most honest review you will read about this place!! We go every year and have never had a bad experience! All 3 haunted houses are great and are guaranteed to give you a good scare! There is a huge bonfire they have in the middle and it is amazing to stand by and enjoy a good chat and hot coco before entering the next house! All of the people that work there are frinedly and take there job seriously but make it a fun enviroment to be in! The place is set up very well for all ages of people to attend. Some people complain about the lines and the small waiting time but have you ever been to a great water park or disney land and just been the only one there...NO it is the result of having an amazing product and scary acres has done this as well!!!! Also some say its pricey, well same concept as the lines only you get what you pay for! This place is worth every penny and than some!!! We can't wait to go this year again! I hope everyone gets the chance to go out and enjoy scary acres!!
P.S. The reason you see the bad reviews, after doing alot of research on the people reviewing scary acres and giving it a 1 star is they are part of a gaming network on the internet and joined together to make bad reviews! more than half of them are not even from the United states and have never been here. It is sad that they write reviews on a place they have never been to as a prank/revenge/stupidity. The good thing about the USA is freedom of speech bad thing is you get people like this who abuse it! The problem is its stuck on the page unless someone gets a court order to take it down not easy to do these days fighting the freedom...
