Nice local spot with a little lake and picnic area. The name makes it sound kind of nasty, but in reality this is a beautiful spot. Bikes are allowed on trails. It would be a little tame to ride during the warmer months, but when there's snow on the ground it's super fun to rip around on - just be sure to be courteous to the hikers, skiers, etc. Local road access from downtown Ned (you only have to be on the highway for a few hundred feet if you know the secret shortcut) makes it an easy to access point for less experienced cyclists. Read moreI've been walking here most days during my month visit and it's a great walk. Not too much elevation change (though there is some) and it is rocky. The trees are beautiful and there are a couple of spots with great views of the mountains beyond. One loop is a little over a mile, the loop around Mud Lake is a little under, with a little connector trail between the two. All the facilities - picnic, parking, bathrooms, are on the Mud Lake side. Read moreJust a short drive out of Nederland towards Estes Park you will see mud lake entrance. Just a short drive down a dirt road is the parking lot. There are several different trails. Most of the trails are under a mile. They offer a shelter with a grill and about 6 picnic tables right next to the lake. Throughout the park there are more tables and a few benches. They do offer a bathroom here. Even though you are not to get in the lake or camp it is a beautiful place but don't take my word go check it out...
