I recently had the pleasure of visiting Nelson's Ledges Quarry Park, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the stunning Glass Bridge, which offers breathtaking views and a unique perspective of the surrounding natural beauty. From the moment I arrived at the park, I was impressed by the cleanliness and upkeep of the facilities. The park is beautifully maintained, with well-marked trails and clear signage that makes navigation easy. The restrooms were exceptionally clean, which is always a significant plus when spending time outdoors. It's evident that the staff takes pride in maintaining a welcoming environment for all visitors. The Glass Bridge itself is a marvel. Walking across it is exhilarating, as you feel both a thrill and a sense of peace while surrounded by nature. The views from the bridge are simply spectacular, making it a perfect spot for photography enthusiasts or anyone looking to soak in the beauty of the park. In addition to the bridge, the quarry park offers various activities and trails suitable for all ages and skill levels. Whether you're hiking, picnicking, or just enjoying the serene atmosphere, there's something for everyone. The staff was friendly and helpful, providing information about the park and its features. Overall, my visit to Nelson's Ledges Glass Bridge was a delightful experience. The park's cleanliness, coupled with its stunning scenery and friendly atmosphere, makes it a must-visit destination. Read moreI never heard about this area until I saw a news article about a newly installed "glass walk." If you can't park in the parking lot, you have to park on the side of the road adjacent to the entrance of the park. There is only 2 restrooms so you may have to wait in line especially if it is a busy day. What was spectacular was the very deep grouges created by the "ice age" You definitely have to watch you step for sure. The white hike route is the easiest hike route and the one that leads right to the "glass walk." The glass walk was underwhelming having had done the Skywalk in the Grand Canyon in a prior year. They should make sure that the glass walk is clean often otherwise it is pointless to go and see it. Unfortunately, I couldn't completely enjoy myself because of the hatred people have in them that was ingrained in the from youth up. The prejudice and judgement I received from onlookers was hurtful. Even a little boy stated while with his family as I was pulling off to leave; "there is that black man." This earth is for everyone and it is upsurd and wrong for anyone to think they are better and superior to others. Until God's Kingdom removes all badness from the earth then we have to deal but until then I am still going to continue to enjoy beautiful scenery and nothing is going to stop me. Read moreThe trails here are really nice. There are a few easy trails, but some are a bit more challenging to navigate because they’re steeper and have a lot of roots poking up from the ground, making it a bit tricky to walk on. I was on the white trail and went to see the glass-covered walkway, which was a bit of a letdown. The walkway isn’t too old, but it’s been scratched up a lot, and the trail makes the glass muddy, making it difficult to see the ground underneath.
On the bright side, the trails are well-marked, with a white trail being the shortest, followed by a red and blue trail. If you’re looking for a great hiking spot, these trails are a great choice. However, if you’re only interested in seeing the glass walkway, I recommend checking out the pictures on the internet from users. The pictures posted by the park authority are a bit misleading and make the walkway look better than it is in person.
If the park doesn’t work out, you’re only about 30-40 minutes away from Cleveland. You could stop and see Lake Erie or the Rock ’n’ Roll Hall of Fame. And if you need gas, it’s relatively cheap in Ohio. I paid...
