Sportsman Beach is a great place to stop and rest up. While there’s no potable water or hookups, it does offer a great view.

The back-in sites up top are not too level but the pull through sites closer to the water are more manageable.

The price is $6 a night, $3 per night with the America the Great pass.

For that amount, you get a decently developed site that you can drag your toad through without detaching and not a bad view in the house.

The lake is shrinking and barren, the wind likes to constantly blow, cell signal is two bars and your TV might get 5 channels but all that merely adds to the serenity.

If you’re planning a trip on 95 and want to avoid the costs of hookups and the challenges of boondocking, this BLM gem might be a...

So the secret about this place is that the newer and nicer campsites are past the boat launch. The old upper sites are near the hwy and not very level. The newer sites are closer to the lake, and the hill blocks the hwy noise. $6 per night ($3 with the America the Beautiful pass). There are 32 sites all have cabana's. No water or electricity but there are vault toilets. Lake water looked clean and clear. There is a day use area by the boat launch with covered picnic tables that...

I tried to stay here in August of 2025 but was put off by a) the heaps of household garbage dumped at the campground dumpsters (truly heaps, the worst illegal dumping I've seen) and b) the fact that the campground shade structures were covered in large spiders. It might be nice in winter, but it did not seem appealing on a hot summer day. On the plus side, it was very easy to access and very inexpensive; campground...

LOVED the sites. VERY level and gorgeous views. No envelopes in the pay station box. Dumpsters were ridiculously full as well as the trash in most of the vault toilets. Womens toilets were all locked, but men's were open. Only 2 other campers here. We stayed in Site 29, 2 nights and could've stayed longer. The views were awesome and road noise minimal. Loved this place, but it's really neglected as far as upkeep.
