A remarkably beautiful day only enhanced by combining a visit to "Va La Vineyards!" Tucked away in Avondale, Pa, this lovely vineyard offers wines uniquely grown on location. Specific blends of grapes and soil use for planting delineate each style of wine offered. I was hosted by "Jane," our server, and loved hearing about the vineyard and about some of the principles used by the proprietor to create their wines. I started with the tasting flight along with a really nice selection of local charcuterie choices to help walk along the wine samples. ๐ท While all of the wines were flavorful and robust, I chose one fave and of course followed that by the glass to finish and take in the experience. As fall fast approaches, the outdoor experience that I really enjoyed will slowly disappear. If you have the time, enjoy a quiet and serene view, enjoy the experience of wine tasting, go and give Va La a try! The seating area outside is warm, spacious, and has wonderful afternoon sunshine ๐. I highly recommend a visit here at #VaLaVineyards ! Find your wine tasting experience!!!

This is not a rowdy party winery, so if you're looking for a serene place to spend an afternoon with your significant other or a couple friends, this is the spot for you. Yes, their wine is pricey but you get what you pay for, and I'm glad it keeps the moscato-swilling bachelorette parties away. They give delicious little snacks at some of the tastings and a lot of interesting information about how the wine is produced - well worth the price. They sell cheese and chocolate, but you can also bring in food - just no outside alcohol. There's a large grassy area with some outdoor tables, as well as a decent amount of tables upstairs from the tasting room. My only wish is that they were open the occasional evening! They have live jazz music on occasion and I'd love to get a bottle of wine and hear them play on a...
ย ย ย Read moreVa La is legit. I generally seek out sustainable vineyards, and I was particularly excited to see blends rather than single varietals, which I think work better in warmer climates able to produce fruitier wines. Each of the four wines was not just good but deeply interesting. We all loved the skin-contact white, La Prima Donna, which had many layers, particularly for a white. The Castana was interestingly pruney, which some of us like and others didn't. The Mahogany and Cedar were both smooth, full-bodied reds of the kind that are very rare in cooler climates. They suggest aging for 6+ years, which makes me regret not buying more bottles (esp after going to Wayvine and tasting their disappointments). I have no idea what Va La is doing that other winemakers are not, but I hope the craftsmanship spreads because I want more local...
