It is a nice park but we had multiple issues with the pool, our cabin, and inacurate info on their website and in- park posted info. The bathroom in our cabin was in dire need of maintenance. Mildew in the tub caulking, nasty toilet seat, and a missing kick plate under the vanity. We had mice running around inside the cabin multiple times.A couple of the kitchen tiles were completely loose and missing the grout. The entire outside of the cabin was swarming with Mason wasps all week as well. The window screens on the back porch were torn in two spots when we arrived. One was torn open by raccoons our third night and we were forced to abandon the screened in porch because of the wasps. We stayed the first full week of August and the pool was already closed! The site says open through Labor Day but no mention of it being closed on weekdays after August. Nothing posted about that at the pool, the gate, or online. We asked on Monday and were told it was closed for the season. There was a hand written note at the gatehouse the next day saying the pool was closed. Gee, thanks for the info. We drove 5+ hours to stay there. We picked this park with the pool in mind for the whole week. With 7 kids, no pool, limited activities along with the condition of the cabin, we ended up leaving a day earlier than planned. We paid for a whole week. Very disappointed with the whole experience. We ended up making a lot of unplanned day trips into Evansville and Mt. Vernon to keep the kids occupied. The trails were nice but the cabin and pool issues were not at all what we have experienced in other IN...
Read moreWonderful state park nestled on the banks of the Wabash River in southwest Indiana. Standing along the banks took me back to a time when destinations along the river were frequent stops for boaters. The park was wooded & quaint. We explored the playgrounds our young kids enjoyed, we hiked, relaxed in hammocks outside our family cabin, and made a trip into the darling town of New Harmony that added to the nostalgia and overall great experience of our short getaway. The park and the town allowed us to slow down from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The family cabins were nice and roomy. They were well kept and slept seven of us comfortably. I’d love to return in late fall when we can take advantage of the wood-burning stove. From card games around the kitchen table, coffee on the rear screened-in porch and smores out front cooked over our campfire we all truly enjoyed this trip and would love...
Read morePaid for a shelter then still had to pay to get in the park. The shelter area was inundated with mosquitoes. We could not get out of our vehicle. When we tried we had 20 mosquitoes in the car. Just by 1 person exiting and entering. I am not exaggerating. This is how many we killed. We tried to hold our event in a sunny area instead, but even with Deet-type repellent, were instantly covered in them. We had to move to another venue. This is a horrible place to go. Paying extra money to get in to the park, on top of a $40 shelter fee, which was totally unusable because you don't spray for mosquitoes is unacceptable. Not caring when your visitors have complaints is also not good. This park could potentially give your family, your grandchildren, West Nile or other mosquito borne illnesses. Never again, and shame on you...
