Pinckney Bend Distillery — Attraction in New Haven

My husband and I stopped by for a tasting this Saturday. Let me say, I am not really a whisky or gin drinker. My husband loves to learn about that kind of stuff, how it's made, etc., but it's really not my thing. However the lady running the tasting was amazing. She was super knowledgable, very friendly and absolutely hilarious. Stopped for the tasting experience that runs every half hour. Super knowledgeable tour host. Learned lots of new things about both this distillery in particular in addition to other distilling related fun facts. They make sweet, not sour mash and only use locally sourced corn for their spirits, not wheat. The tasting options are either for gin or whiskey. We opted for whiskey. I stopped by here on the way to St. Louis after wine tasting in Hermann, MO. This was my favorite stop on the whole trip. The only thing better than the gin, whiskey, and vodka they distill in this small little building is the people who work there. The tasting and tour only takes about 15-30 minutes and was very interesting for an "spirit enthusiast" like me. You will definitely want to leave with one of their products, so plan on doing that.
