I have never in my life written a bad review for a business before. Even if I have a bad experience somewhere, I don't feel like it is necessary to try and give them a bad reputation or ruin their business. However, I feel like after my terrible experience with the Hampton Cove Wedding Plantation Venue, it's important for me to speak my story and warn other potential customers about this unethical business. I have spent months trying to figure out if this is the right thing to do, and I am confident in my decision. I started planning my wedding at the Hampton Cove Wedding Plantation in March, 2020, which is when the chaos surrounding the Corona Virus started happening. My husband (Travis, who was my fiancé during all of this) is in the U.S. Army and is stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado Springs and his summer leave was supposed to be in July; our wedding date was scheduled to be on July 18, 2020 and we put down a $5,000 deposit. Unfortunately, there was a military travel ban put into place because of Covid-19 and Travis's summer leave was taken away. There was NO way he was able to come home and there was NO way of knowing when he could come home. Keep in mind, I only met with Heather (one of the owners of the Hampton Cove Wedding Plantation) TWO times to speak about wedding details and another time for a food tasting that included two other couples; we barely got to speak or plan the wedding. After Heather told us that her and her husband were apart of the military before AND was stationed at Fort Carson before as well, I felt as if I could trust her; she reassured me that if anything happened in regards to the military that kept Travis from coming home, they would be understanding and accommodating. Fast forward to the military travel ban being set in place, I set up a meeting with Heather to talk about this to cancel our wedding date because there was no way Travis was coming home. The MOMENT we told her that we needed to cancel the wedding, her whole demeanor changed. At first, she was trying VERY hard to get us to reschedule the wedding date at a later time this year. While we considered this and wish we could have rescheduled the wedding, there was NO way of knowing when Travis would be able to come home again and I was planning on moving to Colorado later in 2020. Also, if you've ever been in the military, you know that leave dates are ALWAYS susceptible to change and nothing is ever set in place; we truly felt the best thing to do in this situation was cancel the wedding without rescheduling. To make this a little shorter, we understand we signed a contract. But we did not realize a global pandemic would outbreak causing everyone in the U.S. Military to stay at their duty station and NOT take summer leave. We didn't even ask for a full refund as we thought it was more than necessary to pay them for the time they already put in planning the wedding..even though we only got to meet twice due to Covid-19! When we met with Heather to talk about all of this, she told us she would have to talk about it with her co-owners and that she would call us back to talk about it. 30 minutes after the meeting, I received an email stating they were only willing to give us $1500 of the $5000 deposit. The fact that she had to tell me in an email, and NOT in a call (like she said she would do) reflects the unprofessionalism and carelessness that takes place at this venue. Nothing else was said to us after I said we would still like to proceed with cancelling our wedding and I had to sign a cancellation addendum that stated I was only willing to accept $1500 of the $5000 deposit we put down. I completely understand that they are a business, but taking $3500 from someone after only meeting twice and having a food tasting is UNETHICAL and truly shows lack of integrity at this venue. If you are considering to have your wedding at this venue, please consider going somewhere else. In the end, we lost so much of our hard-earned money for a situation that completely out of our control and military-caused. Devastated is an...
Read moreToday, as we celebrate 6 months of marriage, I reflect on our beautiful wedding day. Our day would not have been the same without Hampton Cove Wedding Plantation. Upon our engagement, My fiancé and I discussed the aspects of our wedding day that mattered the most. I envisioned a dreamy outdoor wedding while he made sure that I was fully aware of Alabama’s weather, specifically the HEAT and unpredictable rain. With both families coming from out of town, we both prioritized our families’ comfort & considered the route between the ceremony site and the reception venue. We also wanted to ensure that our large bridal party could be accommodated as we primped and prepped on the morning of our wedding. Finally, we wanted to choose a venue that would allow for amazing wedding photos. As we set out to find a venue that would accommodate most of our needs, we stumbled upon the perfect venue that accommodated ALL of our needs and had everything that we wanted. At Hampton Cove’s Shady Grove, I had my outdoor ceremony site that provided amazing shade during the summer heat. While the groom was delighted that the Hay Barn could be a back up ceremony site in the event of inclement weather. The ceremony and reception were held at the same location, therefore, our families did not have to commute to another location. The Bridal Suite accommodated my bridal party of 8 bridesmaids, two mothers, two make up artist, and 3 bustling flower girls. And OH MY.....OUR PICTURES!!! HCWP provided the perfect backdrop for pictures that will be adored for years to come. Although the venue is a bride’s dream, I’d be remiss if I did not mention the stellar costumer service provided by Mrs. Carla & Heather. Carla and Heather provided warm and welcoming customer service throughout our entire journey. They answered all of my questions and addressed all of my concerns, big or small. Four months before our wedding, I relocated to Florida and was unable to do a final walkthrough. Heather scheduled a video chat and the final walkthrough was a success even though I was not physically there. Carla and Heather were very attentive to our needs and our vision and on the day of our wedding, we were blessed with a little extra TLC. Again, our day would not have been the same if we had not chosen HCWP. Thank you Carla and Heather!!

Read moreWe had the great opportunity to work with Hampton Cove Wedding Plantation recently on Aug 6, 2016 for our wedding. This is the BEST venue and I am so glad we chose them. Trust me, we looked around. Then my wife found them online, so we set up a visit. After touring the plantation and meeting with Carla and Heather, we stopped looking. We knew we had found the spot to create our most important memory. We were not disappointed either! Everyone told me in advance that my wedding day would be a blur and just a crazy day. Thank you Carla and Heather! They were fantastic from the start. They handled everything to make our wedding day a piece of cake, no pun intended. They were very professional from the start and treated us like we were the only wedding of importance, which we appreciate. We were able to communicate everything we wanted involved and they had answers for any question, and we had a lot, that we had. The good thing for us too is the venue holds a lot of people because we have big families. The whole venue is a beautiful place to take pictures before and after the wedding. We took a lot of pictures. Just when we thought we were not going to get to eat (I have heard a lot of horror stories of weddings), Carla and Heather whisked us away to the bridal suite to enjoy a meal. Let me tell you, they kept EVERYONE out, lol. I felt during the whole experience that Carla and Heather were more than just the wedding planners, they were our friends……and now a part of our family!! I will now and forever HIGHLY recommend Hampton Cove Wedding Plantation to anyone looking for that perfect close to home destination wedding. It is truly an experience you will...
