MARCH 11, 2018 Bypassed Black Mesa Casino at San Felipe. MARCH 8, 2018 Took my Older Sister to Black Mesa Casino...iT IS CLOSER to her home. FOR HER SAKE, I am no longer taking her there. It was bad. She was disappointed as I was. We waited to eat at the Snack Shop, It was closed as was the Kitchen on the other end. Nothing to eat...She played about $60 and got the bonus once paid her $5. Horrible.. She wanted a coca-cola they only had Dr. Pepper. People were wondering around in disgust. Their point system sucks. There was a senior $10 free play. They did not give it to her, said she didn't have points. She plays there every Monday and other times with her husband. Took her to the players club, one lady told her one thing, her card didn't work took her back to the player's club, they asked her for an ID, she showed them her military ID...NOTHING...NO MORE...JUST NO MORE....I will travel further to Santa Ana or Cities of Gold or Santa Claran. NO MORE BLACK MESA CASINO until they change their act. STRIKE THREE THEY ARE OUT!!!!

Read moreI've driven past a hundred times, even back when it was Casino Hollywood, but I finally stopped to check it out. It's small compared to Sandia Casino and Santa Ana Star, and lacks what I usually go to casinos for, which is the buffet. There's a kitchen to your right upon walking in, but everything they serve is spicy, so if you have a milder palate turn left past the player's club registration and walk all the way back down the red carpet to find a grill tucked into a corner by the auditorium. The Pueblo burger is very good; a round piece of frybread sliced in half and filled with a beef patty, lettuce, tomato, and diced onion. Condiments are on a counter a little behind and next to the grill, but looked to be the usual mayo, mustard, and ketchup. Husband got fish and chips, which weren't mind blowing but were good enough. I think they might mix their own tartar sauce but neither of us like tartar sauce in general.
Most of their slots look to be penny slots, and they also have video blackjack and video roulette. There's a smoke shop with cigars near the entrance, and a bar back by the grill. The slots are pretty good; you get $10 free play when you sign up for the player's card, and we quickly made enough money to cover dinner plus some. We also watched someone win nicely repeatedly on one of the slots near the grill while we were eating dinner.
I also noticed that it's really not all that far from Albuquerque; I believe it's the second exit after Highway 550, before the Cochiti Lake exit. If you're looking for a lot of glitz stick with Sandia or Santa Ana, but if you feel like a somewhat more cozy experience, Black Mesa is a good option.
Note: Valve has nothing to do with this casino. I saw nothing to do with Half-Life, Portal, or Steam. It's still a fun little...
Read moreYour recent changes has forced me to give one star and let me tell you why: The last time my husband and I visited, the place was practically empty. You did away with the buffet, which was a huge mistake. That was one of the main reasons why people traveled to your casino. Provide awesome food and your patrons stay to play. You recently did away with the grill in the back of the casino which was awesome too! Whoever is in charge of Food & Beverage (last I heard it was a company from Florida) doesn't know the first thing about attracting business to your casino and they certainly don't have a clue about catering to hungry New Mexicans. Remember, there's other casinos which are closer, Sandia and Santa Ana (both of them provide great restaurant options in their casinos). We won't be making the trip to a place that has lost so many great things. I don't mind losing my money but I at least want to have fun while doing it. Get rid of that dreadful new cafe, it's like being in a morgue and you can tell the employees aren't exactly thrilled with these new changes. We need to put New Mexicans back in charge and send them...
