This lake is 13 miles of the highway. It's mostly dirt road and old pavement road. Besides the road and it being narrow in places the lake itself is awesome. The lake is big and having a float tube or small boat will give you more options when fishing. The trout caught in this lake were good sized and were caught by those bait fishing and I caught some fly fishing. If you have a chance you should fish this lake. There are no trees around the lake so take sunscreen. I'm thinking the fishing gets better in the fall to the spring but if the weather is rainy or snowy be prepared for the road to the lake to be bad.

No bites for Lake Charette for 5 hours after a long drive from Artesia NM. Roads was fair but watch out for the cows.

Far away from the highway adds to the gorgeous scenic view. Actually saw antelope grazing loved it!!!!
