First time fishing at Eagle Rock Lake and I had a very pleasant day. The lake's proximity to Red River and Questa plus direct access from the highway make it a busy little lake. People came and went throughout the day but we never felt crowded. The fishing was quite good and it appeared people all around the lake were catching. We used at least 13 different baits plus two lures and two flies. We had action on everything. We didn't catch any trout over 10" but saw two gents who each caught 17" rainbows. With all the traffic in and out I was amazed by how clean the entire area was. Trash was in bins and even the Bud Light man was doing his part by not leaving his empty beer cans all over the place. Most of the visitors were small family groups with dad showing the kids how to fish. I decided to fish the river which runs just to the south of the lake. I fished three long holes just below the bridge and caught seven rainbows in about 40 minutes. All of them were 10" or less and released back into the river. There were heavy rains upstream from us and the river went from being clear to a rich caramel color in about five minutes. I switched gears and went back to fishing the lake. I usually have a preference for fishing in more secluded areas but I was happy and comfy all day long at Eagle Rock Lake. I'm sure I'll make it back in the future.

Eagle Rock Lake in Questa, New Mexico, is an absolute paradise for anyone who loves the great outdoors. Imagine a peaceful lake surrounded by the majestic Sangre de Cristo Mountains – that's Eagle Rock Lake for you. It's a fantastic spot to relax and fish. The lake is stocked with plenty of trout, so whether you're a seasoned angler or just looking to try your hand at fishing, you're in for a treat. What's even better is that Eagle Rock Lake has recently added spaces for campers. Now, you can set up your tent or park your RV right by the lake. The campsites are clean and well-maintained, offering a comfortable and convenient place to stay. Waking up to the fresh mountain air and the sight of the tranquil lake is an experience you won't want to miss. Aside from fishing, there's plenty to do around the lake. Take a leisurely hike along the nearby trails, enjoy a picnic with family or friends, or simply sit back and soak in the natural beauty. The atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming, making it a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. In short, Eagle Rock Lake in Questa is a must-visit for nature lovers, fishing enthusiasts, and anyone looking to unwind in a beautiful setting. Pack your fishing gear, grab your camping supplies, and head over for an unforgettable adventure!

Peaceful area to walk or fish or just sit and enjoy the beautiful scenery. You can walk your dog here but must be leashed. There's a pathway around the lake about 1/2 mile long. Not strenuous but still pretty. There were quite a few folks fishing on a lazy Sunday morning when we visited. We also enjoyed all the wildflowers and listening to the river. Right between Red River and Questa.

Do yourself a favor and seek other places around New Mexico to get your trout experience. It’s not the fishing that’s bad, although all there is tiny stocked rainbow in here, it’s the people that come here. It used to be nice and not a lot of people from Taos and the surrounding areas came here but now it’s nothing but a bunch of ghetto locals that come here and act like they own the lake. There’s other places around that have better quality of fish and you can enjoy a peaceful fishing experience without people...
