The National Scouting Museum is a first class museum that tells the history of the Boy Scouts. It has many displays which are organized in a way that tells stories. There is a library. There is a large meeting room. There is a gift shop. There is a storage area for day packs.
The staff is super friendly, very engaging and helpful.
The displays tell stories about scouting that are often new, always interesting and sometimes humorous.
They have a program for scouts to earn part of the Scouting Heritage merit badge.

The staff was amazing and happy to answer all my questions. If they didn't have the answer readily available they were quick to hand me off to someone who did.    Read moreThe National Scouting Museum is is well worth a visit if you are doing a Philmont trek or even if you just happen to be passing through Cimarron, NM. Our timeline didn't allow for it, but I could have spent 2-3 hrs here reading all of the exhibits. I especially liked seeing the very first Eagle Scout award and how the camping equipment has evolved over the years. They have a Scouting Heritage Merit badge available to earn there as well.
