Easily re-dug during low water. --- MANY hot springs issue from iN the river bed, and the sides, and make soaking possible anywhere you are willing to dig a rock and sand pool on the river edge. I can smell the mineralized water, good for your arthritis and achy joints and muscles. Don't just stay where your car or truck is parked, go further in and you will be rewarded with excellent water view, it has been a while since I have been there but I do remember and will go back. we actually just noticed it by accident since we were trying to take the short cut through the mountains and boy was it a hard climb for our little truck that we had then coming from I10 going up north to I40 going to Las Vegas then to Cali.    Read moreone of the best wild hot springs in NM, about a 1.5 mile hike into a beautiful box canyon of the san fracisco river. the springs themselves a little difficult to locate if you don't know where to look, not obvious from the trail. actually a series of mud & rock constructed pools exist both up & downstream of where the trail meets the river, but you may not find them without a local guide or a diligent search. they get washed out if monsoon flooding occurs and require rebuilding but i have visited many times in different seasons and always found a lovely hot pool waiting to enjoy all to myself. the best pool around 104-106 degrees and the sandy river bottom has many hot seeps in it. a truly...
