We arrived at 3.00 pm on Saturday to find the museum closed. In a puzzling development, someone had scratched out the posted closing hour - which should be 4.00 pm. Apparently, a treacherous employee had decided to take off early and to cover his/her tracks they removed the closing time. This calls for a serious internal investigation on behalf of the Tucumcari City fathers!!

This is a very cool restored Spanish Mission style railroad depot that is now a museum. 1 block off main street. Really gives you a glimpse into the past. I had the added pleasure of being there while a train came through. Definitely worth stopping for.

Great place! just off the beaten track, that is Route 66, in Tucumcari. Interesting displays on the town's connection to bygone days of mining and railroading. Worth the time to stroll through and learn.... things you did not know.

Lots of RR artifacts as you'd expect and history of the town's relationship with the railroad. I went because Lee Van Cleef made the train stop in Tucumcari at the opening of For a Few Dollars More. The museum in the building and old station in the movie look nothing alike; and, sadly, the train really doesn't stop at Tucumcari anymore. But they do go flying by. There is a rail yard nearby and a small coffee shop with offerings you'd expect for a caffeine snack. Fun place to visit, friendly. Kids and adults will like it. Makes Tucumcari a really interesting place to...

Museum closed multiple times when several Tourists wanted to visit. Main Street lady let me in this afternoon to look at part of the displays. Nice displays but way too bad that they are closed most of the time. I considering relocation but not made to feel very welcome by such tactics. Found all four museums in town not open. Also found that Chamber of Commerce not open several times I tried to...

Great place! Visiting the railroad museum brought back so many wonderful memories of my childhood. The exhibits are well-preserved, and the atmosphere truly captures the magic of the golden age of railroads. It’s a nostalgic trip down memory lane that’s both educational and fun. Highly recommend for anyone looking to relive those fond memories or learn about the history...
