I spent more time talking with Tom, Nowetah's husband, than viewing the museum. I enjoyed his stories, and his knowledge of Maine tribes. The museum itself contains a huge number of items from tribes all across North America. One room is full of hundreds of baskets. The museum has the biggest worn basket collection in the country. Every piece on display is well labeled with dates and descriptions.
