Staten Island Weekend Getaway Guide: Uncovering the Island's Hidden Gems

I lived nearby this park for over 10 years, and it's the best park in Staten Island IMO. It's worth the drive to come here from the north shore and even from Brooklyn or central New Jersey. The park has something for just about everyone. There are bbq pits along with a playground, a basketball court, tennis courts, a dog park, and a beach. With that being said, the highlight of the park is its miles of trails. They're great for trail running or a relaxing walk. Wolfe's Pond also has outdoor workout equipment- a pullup bar, dip bars, and so on- so you can work out here outside. There's also a new changing area. The park can get crowded during the summer / warmer weather on the weekends, but it's big enough where it doesn't feel too congested.

This park is a true hidden gem for those who crave solitude and serenity. During my visit, I encountered almost no people, making it feel like I had the entire place to myself. The tranquility was surreal; I could sit by the water and listen to the water ripple without any distractions. It’s an excellent spot for contemplation, meditation, or simply enjoying the stillness of nature. Highly recommended for anyone looking to escape the noise of city life. Just be aware to be there at weekends,a lot of people prefer it for bbq. Best time to visit any weekdays around 5-7 o’clock.

Wolf's Pond is a great and well-maintained park, with large lawn, gorgeous ocean views, a pond, picnic areas, beach, restrooms, medical facility, and plenty of parking. If you come at a time when there are not too many visitors, there's a good chance you'll run in some wildlife, big and small. I would recommend to take your camera for some scenic photos and a nice picnic blanket and a wicker full of munchies (and maybe a kite, as there's plenty of continuous wind to launch one). I'd say it's one of the more well-kept and equipped public parks I've seen across the NYC area.
