Best place to go if youd like to adventure. There is LOTS of space to explore. You can get lost if you try. I got lost my last time there but I still enjoyed my time being there despite not being able to get back to my car. Having to pay to park sucks. That's the only thing I would change. Such a BEAUTIFUL area to walk. I take my dog there and he LOVES it. Very good spot to spend a whole day if you pack lunch and drinks. I've been going here my entire life, starting from a baby. The parking lot by the roundabout has a playground and a nice structure with a roof that you can eat under. My family used to have gatherings there for bday parties and the park is right there for the kids to play on and the adults can watch from the structure. (I dont know the proper name for the structure) just a roof over a bunch of picnic tables.. and I believe they have a...

I never heard of this state park before my wife stumbled upon it. It is very pretty and quite large. This was a working estate in the the British style. It was farmed and gardened. After WWII it went into decline until the last family member passed away in the 70s and it was given to the state so the family could avoid paying the substantial taxes. It appears in recent years that state has invested in restoring some small parts of the estate gardens. It is slightly disappointing that due to its long decline and periods of non-care it is does not show much resemblance to how the grounds and plantings probably looked 100 years ago. There is alot of scruffy and invasive growth like Japanese knotweed and poison ivy. The Mt Laurel and Rhododendron which grow over the estate...

Use to be a great park where people were respectful and understood leash laws. Now you get illegal pitbulls walking off leash with children and horses around. This is not an off leash park. This new trend is not following laws is going to get someone bit.

Like the lady with the grey pitbull who walks there daily. Put your beast on a leash. He doesn't listen to you when you say come and he is MASSIVE. Train your predator with your family not mine.

This place isn't safe anymore. Dog poop in bags on every path and no leashes. Have fun doing your daily run or letting the middle schoolers do their cross country here. God speed for those on horses. Remember, the dog owner is liable for any and all damages. Make sure you grab that plate before they...

Not sure if I pronounced that correctly at all, but Maudsley State Park in Newburyport is also home to one of the largest naturally-occurring stands of mountain laurel in Massachusetts. Things to know before you go: 📍Maudsley State Park 74 Curzon Mill Road, Newburyport, MA 🅿️ there is a large parking area, daily parking fees charged year round. MA resident  $5 and Non-MA resident  $20 ⏰ hours: sunrise to sunset 🥾there are 16 miles of trails to explore that take you through fields, forests and other scenic and historic areas. The trails are wide in most places, and easy to follow. You can download a trail map from the mass.gov website before going, or use AllTrails app while exploring the park. 🚻 there are restrooms available right next to the parking lot 🐶 leashed dogs are welcome (don’t forget to clean up after your dog AND carry the poop bags out with you) 🚲 there are some trails you can ride your mountain bike on, but definitely recommend being somewhat experienced with off-road cycling before trying these - they can be quite rugged with some steep hills. 📖 the story walk was located along the Hedge Drive Trail ⭐️ All Activities: * Hiking * Biking * Mountain biking * Cross-country skiing * Horseback riding * Educational programs * Picnics (no grilling or fires) 🕷️TIP for TICK SEASON: Because you’ll be walking through a wooded area you’ll definitely want to do a tick check (or a few) during and afterwards. We also carry a lint roller in our car to do a once over on our clothes before climbing in, just in case we missed any. And do another tick check that evening (just to be safe) because as long as you get any ticks off you within 24 hours you don’t need to worry about tick borne diseases. #maudslaystatepark #newburyportma #mastateparks
