Love Mead and really wanted to check this out. Looked like a nice little tasting area when I peeked through the locked door during their supposedly open hours. Unfortunately they didn’t seem to have a website or anything to post such info and don’t answer the phone or return calls. I did find a website mentioned someplace (not google) but it goes to an asian gambling site. So thinking maybe they’re no longer a thing.
Update - well it’s pretty obvious this is a review of the business and not of the product. We’re not local and weren’t happy we wasted a lot of time getting there. If I’d somehow known you were elsewhere that day, we might have come there instead. My fault for going anyway when no one answered or returned my call in the hours before we went. (As far as no visitors for a couple weekends - the lack of working active web presence may have something to do with that!) Facebook pages are so easy to post updates on and need no webmaster. I just found your facebook page, didn’t find it before because it’s spelled a little different - friar vs friars. Wouldn’t have helped me anyway because the last post was in 2020. And the link listed is the bad one. Perhaps put the correct link on your facebook page and other places that have the wrong one. And on your google listing,...
Read moreWell worth the trip! The mead-maker, Sean is a wonderful person who will make you feel right at home. The mead itself is of excellent quality, with five varieties to taste when we visited. Tastings are free and bottle prices are extremely reasonable at $13-$14/bottle.
If you're an urbanite, don't be scared to make the trip! The meadery is on a private 1/4 mile gravel road off of State route 215. When you get to the end of Meadow Ridge Lane you'll find yourself at a well kept house with a parking area and a gravel path that leads to the tasting room at the back. I only mention this because I saw that the only bad review for this place is from somebody who didn't even...
Read moreI've had this meadery on my radar for a long time and was finally in the area, so decided to stop by. I was greeted by Sean's wife, who was very friendly. Sean was awesome as well. He gave me a great background description of the meadery while I had a flight tasting and tried a glass of smoked mead. Everything was delicious and the service was so warm and welcoming. The meadery is set behind the owner's home in the lower level basement entrance. It actually gives it a really cool vibe, and the tasting room is designed nicely to go with the ancient theme of mead making. I'm glad I made the stop and will definitely go back when...
