As a disabled nature photographer, the Great Bay NWR is a welcome respite to the rugged trails I attempt to navigate. One of the two trails here, the 1/2 mile loop 'Peverly Pond Trail' is a completely elevated wooden boardwalk enabling me to enter a few different habitats on just about any mobility device. I have been pushing myself, and this by far was the longest distance I have walked in a long time, using a rollator. I stopped numerous times, sitting on grannie (my 'grannie walker' A.K.A. Rollator 😊) or on the two benches strategically placed on the trail. There is a nice deck that overlooks Peverly Brook Upper Pond half way on the trail where one can view a few duck species, many songbirds, and the occasional visit from a fishing Osprey. The Osprey alone are a great reason to spend some time here at the pond.

This is a wonderful place to become completely immersed within Nature's beauty. I highly recommend this location for everyone, not just those with disabilities. I would give the Great Bay NWR 15...

Great trails! Separated into two trails. A short one with a wooden walkway all through a forest. Best one for wheelchairs. The second one, William Furber Ferry Way Trail, which is much longer, goes along part of Great Bay, has an observation deck with a telescopic viewer and on my last visit, I saw deer 🦌. You may need a rugged stroller and be ready to push a wheelchair with some difficulty. Both trails are well maintained, have benches along the way and bathroom available. No admission fee. Maps provided. Plenty of parking. Good for kids. I recommend a visit. Mountain 🏔️ biking might be allowed. I have seen people doing it. Cross country skiing possible. I...

been walking this trail over at pease for years now one of the best places to go. There's two trails one is less then a mile the other one is 2 miles and goes long great bay. You always see plenty of wildlife. Turttles birds deer chipmunk once in a while you'll see a eagle..trails are kept up nice and clean also mowed to lessen the chance of getting ticks..don't go off the trails since you will get ticks on you, I've done it plenty if times and everytime I get ticks on me. Anyways nice place to walk. Also should mention this is where they used to store the nukes back when it...

Such a great place for a walk and short hike! We started with the boardwalk loop. It’s well-kept and an easy walk (0.5 mile loop). The lake view was a serene stop with the birds chirping. We even spotted a turtle and its baby, as well as lots of chipmunks. On the longer trail (2-mile loop), we spotted more chipmunks, birds, and some garter snakes. The trail was well-kept and it was interesting to follow the map while reading about the history of the place (map was in a box at the entrance of the trail). There were also clean bathrooms at the parking. Entrance and parking was free.
