My wife and I took our 5 & 7 year old girls and were so very impressed. Despite it being a foggy, blustery day, we really enjoyed ourselves. The prices seemed a little high at first (20/adult, 8/child), but they were definitely worth it for how well maintained the park was and how much there was to do. At the front gate, they give you a guide CD to play in your car while driving up the mountain and it's super helpful. We first drove all the way to the top to see the famous Swinging Bridge. I won't lie, we were pretty terrified our first time across with thick fog, light rain, and up to 30 mpg wind gusts...but the bridge is very well made and we never felt unsafe. The girls loved it so much, we ended going back and forth across the bridge 5 more times. The animal habitats (bears, otters, mountain lions, bald eagles, and elk )are very well maintained. We are excited to go back another day when the weather is nicer and we can spend time outside at any of the many overlooks &...
Read moreIt's a nice mountain to experience. A little overpriced in my opinion. They charge per person so for 2 of us it was almost $60.00 I don't know what they charge for children since we didn't have any with us. They did give us a CD to play in the radio it talks about the mountain and the spots and stops along the way. There's a bunch of overlooks you can pull off and take pictures and enjoy the views. The swinging bridge was kinda scary because the winds were so hard it was blowing you as you walked in different directions. There's gift shops, snack shop, bathrooms along the mountain. The overlook and swinging bridge are at the top of the mountain and a short walk to the bridge. The have animals they are taking care of there, eagle, otters, elk, bears...
Read moreWent last week to Blowing Rock, NC and visited Grandfather Mountain the next day. It was crowded getting into Grandfather Mountain but worth the wait. This is "leaf season" after all. The swinging bridge was fun and the views amazing. The highlight was actually the town of Blowing Rock. We stay in Hendersonville, which was very close, but wish we would have stayed in Blowing Rock. This is the type town you dream about. Streets are safe to walk at all times of the night. No thugs, no homeless people, no rough folks. Just families along with both young and older couples. Carefree strolling the sidewalk, eating dinner in the many restaurants, enjoying coffee and desert in the many eateries. What a way to finish a beautiful...
