After researching on the web I found this place was the cheapest and wasn't completely booked. We drove 2 hours to get there. I purchased our tickets online and signed all the waiver forms ahead of time to speed the process up. Unfortunately it really doesn't matter because you still have to wait in the only line they have to get your stickers. Everybody in line in front of us hadnt done the waiver forms which caused us to have to wait and lose time for our snow tubing. There really should be a line for people that has already done everything online. After standing in line for roughly 20 minutes we are finally done and ready to have some fun. The first thing I noticed was the lack of snow. Be prepared to get your clothes ruined. There was only 2 guys (workers) there that were actually working and showing respect. The first gentleman was older and navigating the traffic at the beginning of the line before getting on the moving belt. He was very respectful and obviously doing his job. The second person was a younger boy with short hair. He was the ONLY young boy that was actually doing his job and was very respectful. We had the privilege of having him at the moving belt towards the end of our adventure. I have a 5 year old that was having problems getting on the moving belt. This young man put his hands on my son's back to stabilize him so he wouldn't fall. Like I said before he was actually doing his job! The bigger boy with shaggy hair who was standing there the majority of the time just stood there watching while my younger child struggled. At one point my older son fell getting on. Now granted he did try and help him AFTER he fell. My youngest son who was with my husband immediately fell getting on right after my oldest did so the guy stopped the belt from moving. I decided to walk closer to my oldest son. The boy working yelled no walking and I said I'm trying to get to my son to check on him can I not do that. Instead of showing sympathy he proceeds to tell me, "he's big enough to be on his own". Very rude and disrespectful! Another thing is you have to be careful while waiting in line at the top because there isn't much room in between the lines and the ground is bumpy with big rocks. It wasn't a very good experience and I doubt we will be back. I guess it's true what they say..... you really do get what...
Read moreMade reservations to go to Boone for MLK weekend a few months in advance but didn't realize how fast all activities at all the ski places sell out ( tubing, ski school etc). A few days before coming, I read the reviews for tubing places. Most were sold out for the whole day, quite a few days in advance. We got lucky with Jonas Ridge and found two tickets ( wanted three but only two were available) at the first session starting at 0900. A bit early but no other choice. Online reservation system was easy to use and the waivers were easy to complete as well. We got there a few minutes late and parking wasn't too bad. Walked up to the building to get our tubing pass and to my surprise, they gave us the whole full hour although the session was 0900-1000. We got there at 0920 and they gave us to 1030. That's customer service. All the employees were very nice and helpful. There's a nice conveyor belt that takes people up to the top. There are five runs of a decent length. Obviously they make snow at night since it really doesn't snow all that much. The building is very nice and seems new, only a few years at most. Super clean bathrooms and plenty of them. At about the time we left, the place was getting very, very busy but it seems to be well organized. I've only been tubing once and that was in NH and it wasn't busy at all because there are so many choices to go in the North Eastern States ( NY, NH, VT, ME) but people need to understand that here in NC there aren't that many tubing places and Western NC is the only place within driving distance from all the South Eastern states such as Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and everywhere is packed during the weekend or sold out. Make reservations well in advance, don't wait until...
Read moreThis was our first time snowtubing...12 of us...ages toddler to teens and 40+ adults..this place was absolutely perfect. Some of the negative reviews we read prior to going....none of that stuff applied...the lodge was perfectly sized, they had great snack options, the lines moved extremely fast....we purchased a 2 hour slot and our teens went down the slopes 25+ times each...our toddler tired out after about 4 or 5 slopes...so we took turns watching her on the balcony or let her play in the snow while the others played...this place is perfect. Suggestions for 1st time trippers....wear what you plan to wear as you will add your snow gear at your vehichle. They have ample port-o-johns that are clean to use...they have handicap sized POJs just incase you have to change inside one (they are larger). Some of the folks that went with us had been to other snowtubing place down the road (HN) before and prior to this visit to Jonas Ridge, they only considered HN a place to go snow tubing...she said this place was perfect The staff is nice and friendly....I saw some comments about teen staff that were not helpful...the entire group of staff members during our visit were male adults..they supervised the beginning of the conveyer belt where folks walk on, the end where they walk off, they had people at the top of the slopes supervising tubers and someone at the bottom of the slopes making sure there were no crashes and directing your dirction to exit as you finished each ride down. We will be back!!!! Thank you Jonas Ridge for making our day trip an awesome one! We...
