Gooseberry Beach — Attraction in Newport

Been coming here since I was young and nowhere else compares for me. This is my home. A smaller more intimate beach than others in RI or other places. I love the concerts on Wednesday evenings in the summer, it is just a family friendly place with beautiful scenic views of the large houses overlooking the Ocean Drive. Food is delicious, atmosphere is friendly. If you're a local you can sit with friends. I've been sitting with friends I've known for over 25 years. The food and staff at the Gooseberry Beach Snack Shack are the BEST in the biz. Owner of the Snack Shack Lindsey has a great variety of sweets and treats on the menu and on Wednesday night's beach members get a special menu for the music night. Fresh 🍓Strawberry Lemonade, Peach Lemon Ginger Ice Tea are their signature drinks and Tuna Wraps🌯 with Homemade Beach Slaw are a beach patron favorite. Overall, it’s a decent beach. Good for kids and an easy walk from the parking area to the beach. However, the smell that permeates through the air is just a bit unsettling. At times, it was almost nauseating. It could be low tide but it smelled more like sewage to me. Also, there was a lot of seaweed. Parking is $25 and discounted to $20 after 4pm.
