Snow Valley Garlic, Inc — Attraction in Newport

Great event and had a time. Snow Valley Garlic Scape days, was a wonderful event. This farm is within The beautiful Snow Valley, Idaho. The owners and host of this event allowed us to walk through there garlic garden and view all of there garlic types and methods of growing garlic. Wow what a huge variety of garlic that they grow on the farm. Nina was very helpful in answering my questions on raising garlic and what equipment the farm uses to keep planting simple. Of course we purchased garlic for planting later this season and some scapes for cooking. The event also included artisans and food vendors from the local area. As a farmer, it’s critical that we buy the best seeds we can find. A couple of years ago we lost all of our garlic seed; several thousand dollars worth. So, we had to start anew. We purchased up near 30 varieties from Snow Valley Garlic and a couple supplemental varieties from a local produce farm family. Now that I’ve harvested it all and am cleaning it all, I can pick out the supplemental garlic because it simply did not have the good genetics I was expecting. The genetics of the garlic from Snow Valley is excellent; large bulbs, tight wrappers, good scape length, and disease resistance. I can recommend their garlic with honesty...

Love this lil garlic farm. Excited about the 4 types (4 #) that I purchased. East online order, pick up in Priest River. Packaged nicely with all the instructions I needed. Seeing the look on my face as I realized rain and snow were coming soon and I still needed to plant, they gave me encouragement as I stepped out after picking my order into the rain. They said “ you can do it… it’s just a little rain. I have done planted as late as mid-November.”
