This is my favorite dog park. I drive 20 minutes to come here. I'm here at minimum once a week and sometimes as often as 3 or even four times a week in the winter. I have been coming here since sometime in Novemeber of 2017 and I have seen only a handful of minor aggressive occasions that were responded to quickly and responsibly. Many times the dogs can be redirected and resume playing. Most owners know their dogs and remove them if they feel it's necessary; like if their dog displays resource guarding with toys that were left behind in the park. I see reviews on here that says things like; "first time here, aggression toward my dog [by a pack of 10], owners did not respond." Ok. First of all, if you're bringing your dog to a new park... go during off-peak hours. Google does a fair job of estimating this, i'd say midmorning during the week is probably your best bet. Secondly, you can't judge a park or other dog owners by one visit. Hundreds of people and dogs visit this park during the week; most of the people that frequent this place are amazing, wonderful people that most definitely respond well to problematic behavior. Judging the people and dogs that frequent this park based on one incident is absurd. There are multiple waves of people and dogs throughout the day. Morning, mid-morning, noon, early afternoon, and early evening. Atari and I have been there at all time periods except morning. Different days and seasons also change the dynamic of how many dogs are there. During the winter noon tends to have the most people and during the summer I've seen more people during the early evening. Most of the waste does get picked up, bags and a trash can are provided. If your pup gets hot in the summer there is a sprinkler and a hose; there is also access to the river behind the park if you follow the road that...
Read moreOverall, a nice place to bring your dog depending on the group of dogs that are there. Most people are responsible and clean up after their pet, unfortunately, there are more than a few others who do not, conveniently looking away when their dog(s) poops. Also, most dogs are very social and playful, but there are several, one German shepard in particular, and three other mixed breeds (rots/pits), who are very aggressive and mean. The owners are more of the problem than the dogs, as they stand by and watch their dogs aggressive behavior, doing nothing to correct it. (They must be hunters). My dog had three of these dogs chase her relentlessly in a pack formation, literally biting her neck, back and legs in an effort to bring her down, and yes, I do know the difference between playful nipping and dominant biting. I had to pull one of the dogs off of her with their collar, as the owner just watched. Really upsetting that something good can be made bad by the...
Read moreThis dog park is beautiful and clean! It's a large fenced-in area with a little spray area and a little plastic pool to encourage water play. Plastic bags are provided to clean up after your pup, and mostly everyone who goes there is courteous and respectful towards others. There is a little roofed over area where one can sit in the shade but otherwise, its whole area is in the full sun. There is also a secluded play zone for tiny pups that is fenced in, that borders besides the regular dog play area. Dog treats aren't allowed there to avoid fights over food but also due to food allergies. I have seen that on occasion people break that rule, but if your dog is sensitive, I suggest you scan the area before you let your pup play... You will need a permit to bring your dog here! I am a non resident since I don't live in Newtown and it costs $150 for...
