Located just a little of town, is this awesome museum, dedicated to life in history of Nome, we spent easy a couple of hours taking it all in. After recently watching the move Togo, we especially loved the display dedicated to the musher Leonhard Seppala, who with his team of dogs (including togo and Fritz) played a crucial role in the 1925 serum run to Nome, Alaska, which was quite moving.

Fascinating exhibits about both the native Inupiat history and Nome's unique gold rush history. Definitely a must-see in town and a great way to spend a windy or wet afternoon. Prices are also very affordable - $4 for local adults and $7 for visitors. A small gift shop has memorabilia.

I’m not as interested in museums for art as I am for history. This encompasses life in Nome both past and present. There is so much rich history here and it is showcased beautifully in the displays and photographs. Definitely worth a visit.

I try to visit the community museums when I visit remote parts of Alaska. This beautiful new building features both a museum and library. The museum was full of natural and local history, information about flora and fauna, and native history and artifacts. It is not a large place, but the information and displays are comprehensive, especially for a visitor to the town trying to take in and digest the information in one helping. It's an excellent supplement to the experience of...

First time visiting Nome, and the Carrie M. McLain memorial museum was a spectacular place to learn about the history of Nome and the powerful ways they are trying to preserve the indigenous culture and the incredibly beautiful nature with the challenges of industry and the effects of the gold rush.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming to the group I was with as well. If you're visiting Nome, it should be on your list to...

I don't usually enjoy museums , but I found this one really fascinating. It was one of the best museums I've ever seen. This museum is about the history of Nome, Alaska...covers the city's history from its founding and the gold rush era. All the artifacts and history of the city can be seen there. The staff was very welcoming upon arrival, and there's no entrance fee. But you do need...
