My folks were members so I spent a lot of kid-time there. We weren't supposed to go inside the dining room but we were kids - we feigned ignorance to get expensive candy! Memories of running down the beach, bon fires, friends - great fun. FFWD to now - they have a swimming pool and give lessons in the summer. They also rent out the large hall for events and there's a good-sized kitchen in there. I wouldn't call it cozy, it's an open room, but my 40 year Mt Rainier HS reunion was there 3 weeks ago and I'm still feeling the warmth. We had it catered (I don't think they have a staff for that) so I can't comment on food, but I will say The Cove has changed a lot - and it hasn't. From being a kid looking in to years later as an adult looking out - well, the juxtaposition defies description! If you're looking for a place to have a large-ish get-together and the South End isn't too far, I'd recommend The Cove- or whatever they're...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite places. THE COVE This is a nice peaceful beach. Great for beach combing agates and the occasional arrowhead. It is unfortunate that the residents feel that they are so intitled to make it private to only residents. I have been coming to this beach for over 40 years. My grandparents raised their family in Normandy park. I am technically not allowed anymore at the park because my family is no longer residents. It's a shame and the local beach residents like to put signs up stating how the own the beach as far as the tide goes out. So I go anyway. Walking the beach is therapeutic and it should not be kept from us. There iui s a guard at the gate at times the will turn you away but i just park down the road and walk in along the community park...
Read moreI was there for a community event that itself was great. The grounds are beautiful and the wildlife was wonderful. However, the entire area felt very uninviting because it is exclusively for use by the ultra wealthy landowners in the area. The selfishness and very aggressive signage honestly makes me embarrassed to be living in this area. Compared to other communities that are waterfront, which embrace the natural beauty and encourage visitors by building footpaths and opening up the beaches to all, the entitlement of Normandy Park has led me to think very little of the town that is listed...
