Roba family Farms has a supposed COVID-19 policy at face, but it’s not very effective, practiced or at all evident once inside the facility.
Firstly, you need to order tickets online to reserve a time to arrive which would expect one to believe and take some comfort in their website’s stated policy that there is limited access during those times to keep everyone socially distant and feel safe- great was happy to see that! However when my family and I arrived, the place was ridiculously over-packed, much more than I’ve seen in a long time, and we’ve been attending for several years now. We would have walked out and gone back home but they do not offer any type of refund for whatever reason and we paid a bunch even with their general admission fee so we ventured in. In retrospect, a questionable move.
As an example- When inside, the shows such as the popular “Marvelous Mutts” had everyone sitting shoulder to shoulder on the bleachers- no social distancing whatsoever and no one from Roba monitoring that situation either. Also tables set up for eating were extremely close and not very well monitored by staff designated to sanitize between parties attending. BTW- only one person was tasked with trying to keep up with that - she tried but wasn’t able to keep up. Not a good implementation of staff where really needed - not her fault.
Also there was no monitoring of Roba’s mandatory mask-wearing policy by any staff that I could see, including the absence of any reminders which could have been announced over the speakers. I observed many patrons not wearing masks -WOW, even my local grocery store watches out for that! Cant even enter most stores at all without a mask these days. Instead just heard the occasional announcement of someone’s car lights left on.
Overall I felt a bit uncomfortable and tried my best to keep my “social distance” from everyone while there, but still felt uneasy like I was in one of those so-called “super-spreader” events – seriously a TON of people - A TON. So what was the point of the online reservation for an arrival time??? Anyone? Crickets chirping Right.
I’m not left with a very good memory from this year’s visit and very disappointed as I expected better from Roba’s. My family left much earlier than planned after spending a significant amount of money to be there in the first place (6 of us).
Simply, they need to step it up and show they are really serious about implementing, and more importantly, ENFORCING what they publicly advertise as their Covid-19 mitigation policies during this challenging time and not put PROFITS ahead of PEOPLE.
Not trying to be a “hater” folks, I have been attending Roba’s for years and have some great family memories from those times. Just pointing out some very obvious opportunities, in my opinion from recent experience, and in the opinion of some other patrons as well, for significant improvement toward a more comfortable experience from an establishment we all have trusted...
Read moreExperience was 10/10 one of the biggest family farms I have visited.
Every activity there was amazing and full of fun. Totally recommend to go there from opening until closesure to get full experience and be able to visit all the different areas! They have over 30 attractions/activities.
Food was amazing! Chicken tenders and fries were lovely not greasy at all and tasted fresh! Cheeseburger also tasted amazing. They also offer a variety of stuff like apple cider milkshakes and donuts which are also amazing. First time trying the apple cider donuts and I didnt regret it! They have kettle corn, grilled cheese, funnel cake, hotdogs, just so much to pick! Hard cider was delightful!! And they have like 5 different varieties for all tastes my favorite one was the semi sweet one and the cherry one! Regular apple cider was so delicious I had to get a whole gallon!!
They had a Dog show and Pig race the weekend I went. Which was this past weekend and both where about 15 minutes long. Very entertaining.
They have a hayride which takes you around the whole farm and drivers are very friendly and fun!! They have Gem mining, Apple cannon, Paintball, A magic show, a chicken show, obviously a pumpkin patch oh my I can sit here and name all of the things they have and pur group did but I will end tomorrow So definitely got to check them out, and their website!
They also offer renting campfires which is good for cold days and they also rent party tents. They have face painting right there the lady is very nice and she is great at what she does and it's for all ages!!
Depending on the weather they let you ride ponies. Other animals they also have are Bunnies, Goats, Sheeps, Chickens, Llamas & Pigs. And they have very interesting facts about them!
They have 2 corn mazes a small one I and a HUGE one and the attendant at the corn maze was very diligent and knowledgeable and he was worried about our group getting lost so he asked us to please notify him once we made it out because if not he will have to go in and search for us which I think is very responsible and admirable and kudos to all the employees there that go above and beyond!
Definitely if you plan on going take advantage of the punches!! That helped with food and activities
I fell in love so hard with this place that I'm getting a season pass next year to get the full experience and special events from September until they close...
Read moreOverall my kids had a good time but have to say we were very disappointed. My family and I went on a Thursday which is a discount day because with a family of 5 it can be very costly, 30 at the gate on weekends, so being that it was a weekday alot of things were closed. Alot of attractions were closed or just not working all together, such as the "new" duck dance which was broken missing pieces and a giant disappointment. There was only 1 food stand open with only 1 worker which seemed to be the theme of the night the farm was greatly understaffed. The food stand was expensive for what we got which was ice cold hard as a rock french fries and a luke warm burger, however the free refills was nice and a good deal. The fries were cold and hard because was in what I think an effort for the solo worker to save time which it didn't save time anyways because she was still very slow, they were just sitting in a fryer basket for god knows how long not even under a heat lamp or anything, they went right in the trash after we bought them, speaking of trash the farm is covered in it, you couldn't walk two feet without seeing trash everywhere on the ground (probably another result of understaffing). Also my kids favorite attraction has been removed which was the hay bale jungle gym not sure why they took it away but the kids were definitely sad to see it gone. Another issue with the understaffing came up when they only had one worker for the jumping pillows which are separated into 2 age groups with only one worker that lead to one group having to wait the 5 or 6 mins for the other group to finish in order to use the second pillow and as a mom of 3 it was very hard to have 2 of my kids wait for there ages turn. And vice versa. I was greatly disappointed with the standards they have set. Even the feeder boxes to feed the fish were empty, typically robas is the pumpkin patch we go to every year, sadly next year we might be looking for a new pumpkin...
