this is one of our favorite local trail networks, wending through field and woods, over bridges, past a little pond and revolutionary war-era cemetery. the perimeter trail is a nicely maintained, well-marked loop just over a mile and a half, with rocks and roots, a few ups and downs but mostly flat. i'm recovering from orthopedic surgery and have had no trouble navigating any of the trails in this little park. there have been no ticks and few bugs (unusual for this time of year, but it's been pretty dry lately). leashed dogs are welcome; byo poop bags. there's more bird and wildlife activity here than you'll find over at Rachel Carson, as the trail is far less trafficked and leads deeper into the woods. my bullies absolutely love it here --pretty sure it's their favorite snuffle shuffle, and i truly love the peace and solitude of this beautiful place. it's not too far off the beaten path, but when you're out here, it sure...

The outer loop hugs close to the boundary most of the way, with a rolling hills of hay farms to the north and the Negutaquet River at the southern side. This loop goes through a variety of different and diverse forests; from oak and maple to hemlock and birch with some sections of white pine and poplar.
