We took a few mile detour off the interstate for a meal break. The river view is nice, but it’s not much of a park. It is a gravel parking lot along the river. There is only a one lane entrance/exit off the two lane road to get in. There was a line of barrels and caution tape immediately after the entrance dividing the two ends of the parking lot. In the middle was a sharps collection post for drug needles. There were a few picnic tables but they weren’t in good shape. It seems to be a local fishing spot, as the only other patrons came with poles or rafts. A few other cars entered while we ate from our car, but they immediately left...
Read moreThis isn't much of a park - small footprint. And the traffic on Brevard Road can be constant and congested. There is truly no way to get away from the traffic noise from Brevard Road at this park - so don't plan to go here for a "peaceful" picnic some people seem to think they enjoyed. There are so many nearby places in the Bent Creek Experimental Forest or the NC Arboretum that are truly "peaceful", I don't know why people would pull in here other than for a quick view of the French Broad River or to...
