What a lovely little winery! Very cozy and homey—not the somewhat snooty atmosphere one might expect from a typical winery. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. You could tell they love what they do and are proud of this place. We got a little history of the farm and vineyard, and even advice on how to hike the adjacent trail which leads to a lovely tree bathing grove and a replica of the Hoover Dam! We did a wine tasting flight and really enjoyed all of them, particularly the Cabernet Franc and the Barbera—a variety we’d never heard of and is apparently only found at this NC winery right now. (We bought 2 bottles!) I would classify these varietals as somewhat lighter and less robust than their California counterparts, but that will appeal to some. We thought they were very flavorful and subtly nuanced. Can’t wait to see what else they put out in the future. There is plenty of outdoor seating and space. They have a fire pit and portable heaters as well. You can also purchase charcuterie and small plate items to accompany their delicious wines. Grassy Creek Vineyard & Winery was an absolute dream! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the warmest, most welcoming staff — genuinely kind, knowledgeable, and incredibly dog-friendly (which made the experience even more special for us!).
One of the best surprises was that dogs are allowed inside the tasting room — a rare and wonderful treat. Our pups were spoiled with attention, and we were too — sipping delicious, locally-crafted wines while enjoying an outstanding cheese board featuring regional selections that paired perfectly with each pour.
What really sets Grassy Creek apart is its stunning location. After an invigorating hike to a peaceful waterfall right on the property, we returned to the winery to relax, recharge, and enjoy the fruits of North Carolina’s wine country. The whole experience felt perfectly curated yet completely down-to-earth.
If you love great wine, beautiful nature, and friendly vibes (especially if you’re traveling with a dogs), this place is a must-visit. Can’t wait...
Read moreWalked here Saturday from Byrd Branch campground nearby. The tasting room building is very nice, lots of sunshine and light colored wood. Good, comfortable seating is there. Our group did a tasting and I liked all of their wines. We purchased about 10 bottles of wine which the owner delivered to our campsite so we didn't have to carry bottles 1.5 miles through the woods. Very accommodating. The scenery is rolling farmland, ponds and trees. A nice relaxing place to visit with a good variety of wines. I've been to 30 other wineries in the area and this is one worth coming back to. Update 01/23/22 Recently returned to the area and visited again. To accommodate social distancing, the front parking area has been converted to additional outdoor seating with heaters. Additional tables inside with decent social distancing. Parking is now around the back. They still have a good selection of wines at reasonable prices. It's still a very friendly place to visit and enjoy hikes...
