Booked our wedding here where we paid for the venue which was an arbor and a full service as you can see in the pic. When we arrived the tables were all sat out but we had to set them up the way we wanted them set up. We had to sweep up leaves and stuff before our event but didnât think anything of it since there was a breeze. The event went well and at the end we tidied up a bit because we were under the impression that we had paid for a post event clean up. Since that was in the description we were given. We made sure everything got into trash cans and tried to sweep up most of the stuff left on the floor. To include the flower pedals and etc⊠so fast forward 20 days and we had heard nothing back regarding our event or the deposit so my mom called to check on it. They informed her that the place had been left a mess during some event and that they were reviewing the photos and would get back to her. Another week went by and no one had still reached out to us so my mom called back again only to be told that the clean up crew had arrived the following morning to a horrible disaster and it took them 4+ hrs to clean. So my mom requested the pictures. Those pictures are also attached. Now, looking at the pics you can see that everything made it to a trash can. And only a few last min pieces were not in bags. Some of the bags leaked. And we do feel bad about that but we canât see anything that requires 4+ hrs of cleaning or our entire deposit. As you can see some of the pictures sent we were trying to figure out what the picture was showing. Especially since the package we selected included post event clean up. And the fact that they didnât even reach out to us regarding the situation after the event or after my momâs initial call about the deposit really shows a lack of profession of the staff of this place. I love history, I am a descendant of the Carsonâs on my dads side of the family and my parents were married on the exact same property 20+ years prior. However, Iâm afraid this is were it will end for us. I guess you have to make your money to keep it open some how. You are welcome for the...
Read moreWhen we decided to go here I honestly didn't have high expectations, but it turned out to be one of the highlights of our vacation.
We were greeted by a friendly employee who have is the overview and set up our tour of the house. The tour was given by a young lady who was clearly very passionate about the house, the history and the family. It was nice to hear about the history of the family and the house from someone who is genuinely interested in them rather than somebody who is just going through the motions. Throughout the multiple levels and rooms there were a huge number of interesting items and stories. From the original of the house to the family history to slavey, there was a terrific amount of information and exhibits that enhanced the experience and engaged us. I appreciated the honesty around some of the displays not being era appropriate, the pieces were still interesting and worthwhile seeing.
It's not often that you can find something that engages young children, parents and grandparents but the Carson House did just that. I would thoroughly...
Read moreJust visited the Carson House on 10/4/2023. I was on vacation in western North Carolina and researched places to see. This was the highlight of my trip. Chuck Metcalf was my tour guide and his enthusiasm about the house and grounds was unbelievable. He made the 3-story home come alive as it was in the late 1700s and forward (as Carson's son built onto the home). Both Chuck and his wife are great people that obviously love what they do. I felt as though I was there, in the moment of that time. I highly recommend this tour. I've been to many such historical places where rooms are cordoned off and all items are behind glass. There are some display cases, but otherwise, you will feel that you have travelled back in time.
