Ledges Whitewater River Park — Attraction in North Carolina

When someone in my family says, "Let's go to the river," this is where they are referring to. There are several grills and picnic tables available and parking is mostly adequate. There is plenty of running room for dogs and children. There are worn trails in either direction from the park along the river with large rocks to relax on in and at the river's edge. Absolutely beautiful and fun spot on the French Broad. Perfect for paddlers who are wanting to test the waters (like I did). You can also float a really short run in a tube. In the summertime, it's relaxing to lounge around the park that has grills and picnic tables available. I enjoy playing in the water with my dog and basking in the sun on one of the large rocks. The absolute perfect "river spot" off the beaten path...
