4.5* Played here for the first time since 2011 I believe. Seen some rough reviews the past few years and have been intrigued to see for myself. My experience today was awesome.
First off Google takes you to tigers eye club house which is silly and not the courses fault, but some extra signage would be nice.
I had the first slot of the day and everyone was very nice. Guys at bag drop and club house very pleasant. Shout-out to starter Mr. Bob. He was hyping me up at the turn and when I finished the round.
Course was in great shape. Greens were awesome and maybe the best I've played. Including dye and love at Barefoot, and prestwick. Prestwick was the only competitor imo.
Fairways for the most part we're nice as well. A couple had some random spots here and there that we're a little beat up, but didn't effect my experience. A couple tee boxes were a bit meh. But it was only 2 or 3 and they were growing grass out in other spots where they didn't have us teeing off. The only bad one was 11. The apron at the 13 was basically grassless in quite a bit of it. but hit it on the green of a short par 3 and that's not a problem ;) .
Layout is really tough. You can get in trouble with water and trees/ob. Have to be on point with driver.
Green complexes were nice. Recently redone greens and it showed. Quite a bit of flatish to subtle undulation. And a few with large mounds differentiating levels. Got in trouble with this a couple times.
I would for sure play again. I don't know how the other courses are playing right now, but for sure would like to...
Read morePlayed on April 4, 2019 on a glorious sunny day. The staff was excellent and the layout is very good. Starting at 9:00 am, the pace of play was excellent (playing in less than 4 1/2 hours). on what I thought was a very tough course. Keeping your ball in the fairway is of paramount importance, as there are lots of bunkers and water hazards. Conditions were generally good except for bunkers, noted below.
This was my first time playing this course and I was disappointed in the lack of yardage markers. There were sprinkler heads marked, but none of them were obvious to find. Most quality courses in the Myrtle Beach area, paint around the sprinkler heads to make them stand out. No yardage markers/posts for 200, 150 or 100 yards. 150 yard markers are standard in this area. None of the greenside bunkers were raked. They were hard, crusty and had ruts, caused by water run off. If I was using a numerical score, I would rate this course, based on today's conditions 7 out of 10. Since I live on the Grand Strand, I would play this...
Read moreWhat a giant disappointment. Played this course 6 years ago and would have said it was one of the best in the area. I played it today remembering how good it was and knew from the putting green it was a different course. Whoever took ownership of this has done such a terrible job because the greens were like putting on a carpet and you could tell the course is just not at all been maintained whatsoever. The fairways and rough had weeds growing all over it looked as if they never mowed or maintained it at all. Every single Bunker looked like it was completely inundated with lack of care. There was no sand in any of the bunkers and there were weeds all around the edges it almost looked as if they completely have given up. This was the biggest disappointment because this course has so much potential and the property is beautiful but they have done an absolutely pathetic job in keeping it up. Sadly, I’d say go elsewhere. I paid $49 today and felt like I...
