I have been coming to this park for about 25 years now and still enjoy visiting here. When I tube down the Dan River I usually stop at this park on the way out to swing on the rope swing unto the water and then have a picnic. Can be really crowded at times and at others you are all alone. Plenty of area to walk about and explore a little along the banks. Water is typically chilly if not cold throughout the year. I usually wait til about June through August to tube there. Has a shelter and some tables but needs an updated and larger playground for the kids. Maybe add some swings or something. 2 parkinglots available. A historic Iron furnace is also at the park in the lower parkinglot.

I traveled to Hanging Rock State Park and traveled to this park one day. I was disgusted by how unkept it was. There was trash all over the ground. Drinks bottles on the shoreline. The bottle caps from alcohol bottles were all around the picnic tables, and the charcoal grills had been dumped onto the ground. Also, rule #6 is wrong. It says park hours are from Dusk until Dawn. Basically, overnight. It should say from Dawn to Dusk. The Town of Danbury has let this place become an eyesore.

It’s always been a great place to relax. I practically lived for this park during the summer as a kid. The water is freezing of course but as an adult now I feel like that’s the best part 😂 Dipping my feet in after walking the trail on hanging rock was nice 😊 take your kids and enjoy! Be careful of the rapids 😊

The park is great. But when I went over there on July 4th. Last Tuesday, the sheriff's department started towing people parked up the sides of the road. Everyone was parked off of the road out of the way on state-owned property off of the side of the road, not private property, and that is taxpayer's property. People were just out there trying to have a good time. And a good day, and the stokes county sheriff's department, led by joey lemmons. Started having cars towed and there was no signs saying that we could not park up there. When I asked the deputies who authorized the towing, they saidcall the sheriff. They weren't even using all of the parks space. AGAIN people were just trying to have a good day and MEADOWS was towing them away for NO wrong doing. State owned park, state owned roads... tax payer funded. stokes county sherriffs...

It has been brutally hot lately and we needed a place to cool off. Moratock Park is located on the Dan River in Danbury, NC. It is a great place to play and enjoy the water. The park allows setting up canopies, grills, hammocks, etc. So you could come and set up to enjoy the whole day. No overnight camping. They have a rope for swinging and dropping into the river. This is the end spot for one of the local tubing companies so tube and kayaks do come through, but it wasn't a problem as the river current is pretty slow in this area, of course river level will dictate the speed of the current and we have been very dry lately so levels were down. There is no lifeguard so swim and play at...
