Okay, so first of all, be prepared to walk a pretty good distance just to see it. The things that a lot of people don't say is that if your elderly or you're not well versed in the hiking world, you have to take a pretty good track up a short mountain path to get there. It's like 2 mi but I swear it feels like five. We got about 1.8 mi and decided to go off to the left and this little trail cuz my mother's like 57 years old and she had a difficult time. The way back is mostly downhill so you will enjoy that. But remember there are people out there that aren't in the best of health that still want to see things and they don't want to hike a long way. Duh the scenery is beautiful. The environment is amazing. The atmosphere has a beautiful vibe to it. If you're outdoorsy and enjoy that type of thing, you will absolutely love these trails. Not a lot of people, not a lot of congestion and everybody you pass. I always says hi and smiles and that's always a plus. I don't rank this low out of five because of the beauty of the serenity. I rank it low because they don't really take special precautions for older people or people in bad shape. And I think that's one main thing that we should take care of in this world is our elderly. They should maybe have like a thing where they drive people up the trail with a four-wheeler for an extra $3 or something that would be perfect for people like my mother and and people of age that still want to see beautiful things. I would not be a bad thing to offer. It wouldn't be polluting anything. It wouldn't be bad for the environment. It would be nice. Just something to take into consideration before you go. It is a long walk to see it, but if you're up for that kind of thing,...
Read moreWhile staying in Gatlinburg and hiking the trails around there we decided to drive the 50 minutes to hike this trail. It was worth the trip! This is probably my favorite hike of our trip. It was a nice easy climb, not strenuous at all. About a mile and a half in the trail opens up on the left hand side. While there aren’t any signs designating a trail to the river it is clear that many people have made the trek down. It is worth the climb down to see a small fall on the river. Quite beautiful and a great place to get in the water if you want to. Another half mile up the trail the falls appear on the left just passed the horse tie off. They are the prettiest falls I saw the whole trip and my husband and I had them to ourselves as we had most of the trail to ourselves. From here the trail goes on for a couple of miles, we only hiked up a short distance more to the bridge. The views of the river from the bridge were gorgeous! In total the hike in and back out took us about 2 hours but we took our time and ate lunch too. I highly recommend hiking this trail. Parking is not an issue. Be advised the .9 mile drive back to the trailhead is pretty much a 1 lane gravel road that is in rough shape at points. Take your time to avoid...
Read moreFirst time hiking with my family in TN, we are not experienced at all and we had little and big kids with us. We passed midnight hole, (1st creek on the trail) I am assuming it was because a lot of people where there and we decided to keep on hiking, we found Mouse creek, (3rd creek/waterfall) it was really nice! If you want to get close to the waterfall, you will need to make your way to through the rocks and water can be COLD! Be careful with smaller kids, we kept the smaller kids in one area where they stream was more easy. No signs on this trail so you really wont know if you reached Mouse Creek. I would recommend when you see like a empty open space with a small branch log distinctly placed there you have reached mouse creek. You then need to walk into and really look to actually see the waterfall. Its an easy climb down. If you go farther on the trail from here it is a LOOONG way until you reach another creek, i would not recommend if you are with smaller kids and inexperienced hikers. We settled here in mouse creek because most of the kids were too tired to keep on. One of the adults decided to keep hiking the trail and it took them about 1 to 2 hours to finally make their way back to...
