What a lovely experience to spend time here at what our AirBnB host informed us was the highest lake east of the Mississippi. It felt as if we had the entire lake to ourselves and could explore it via canoe as lazily as we wanted, slowly paddling from scenic spot to scenic spot. I only saw one or two powerboats and we canoed all day. A serene, placid, otherworldly place tucked into the North Carolina mountains. We went during the off months when the nearby restaurant/marina was closed, so it may be busier when that opens up. We definitely want to come back...
