I’ve heard so much about this place and so I made the trek out here with one of my buddies this past weekend. If anyone is considering making the trip out this is the most honest review I can give from my experience. It’s the most scenic course I’ve ever played. The weather was absolutely perfect and the mountain views were stunning. To top it off the staff was great and the food at their grille was really good. Their disc selection was low so if you are looking to buy a “commemorative disc” to remember the experience you might not find a great one, but nonetheless I bought one because I like supporting the local disc golf stores as opposed to chain places. River Run: this course is most definitely the one you want to warm up on if playing the other 2 next. It’s not “easy” per se but distance-wise the holes aren’t quite as long. It’s a beautiful course. Super well maintained and I would say that this would be more for a beginner to maybe medium level player. Boulder: this course is a significant upgrade in distance and in skill level. A lot more technical play & a lot more challenging shots at farther distances. One of the biggest challenges of this course is the kudzu. If you happen to land in the there you better keep an eye on where it went in and run there immediately because chances are that disc is a goner. I would say bring a couple extra discs just in case one goes in because if you come here with only your favorite driver and no back up you may have to make adjustments lol but overall great course and just beautiful. Gorge: this course is by far the most difficult course I’ve ever played. Very challenging from a technical & distance standpoint. This one has a lot of sand trap hazards and holes where your disc has to land in certain spots or it’s considered OB. Hole 18 on this one is a doozy. I had to skip it because I don’t have the distance and there is a lot of kudzu you have to work around to land in the required spots. I would most definitely say this is not a course for beginners.
Sorry for the super long review, but I wanted anyone thinking about coming here to know what they are getting in to. I would highly recommend coming here for the experience & I can’t wait until I get another opportunity to play these...
Read moreWe were really looking forward to checking this one out because it got rated so highly. We also loved the idea of multiple disc golf courses at one location and the fact that they are using an old ball golf course.
Unfortunately, this one didn't stand up to the hype for us. A lot of it was very overgrown and extremely buggy. Might have been due to a lower elevation for the latter, as we didn't have that issue with any other courses we've played so far this trip in the mountains. The lack of clear signage made it difficult to determine where the next hole, and in some cases even the baskets, were. There was also trash in a few different areas.
On the upside, the staff we did talk to were overall pretty friendly and knowledgeable. With the exception of the person sitting in the pro shop who took our money to play. He barely acknowledged our existence and acted like he would prefer to be anywhere other than there.
The bar had a great layout and we loved all of the game options they had. They did have a few gluten free drink options for me, which was helpful, but no deglutenized beer, sadly. Lots of seating outside and great views of some of the course and the mountains. A very decent sized parking lot was also a helpful plus for them.
Overall, I think they've got something here. But, for me, it needs a bit more work before it would be worth spending any money to play when we can play courses just as good, or...
Read moreDefinitely should not be charging full price to book and play a tee time, its been a few months after the storm we went out to play me and my fiancé and we found that none of the tee pads for boulders course were completely visible and there was still trash sitting around and the ground was terrible to walk, its almost like they gave up on trying to clean the course we ended up stopping after 4 holes played and left, with the unbearable sun and extra added on time to find a area to safely cross to the other areas we decied it wasn't worth it and that hopefully when we return in the later of the year not only will it be cleaned up and repaired but it'll be easier and more fun to play, as for now I do not recommend playing the courses, unless your a very excited I can do it disc golfer ok with playing a course that is suppose to take you up to 3 hours much longer than orgianlly spoken about, also theres no post of directions on there website stating a different way to get there because the orgianal bridge washed away so you have to call them and even then good luck because there only open so many days in a row, you can't rent a golf cart do to the lack of storm clean up efforts, and overall as of current not worth the 15-25...
