Lovely out and back trail in Gerton NC. The incline is mostly steady and moderate under a mostly tree-covered trail and offers several outlooks along the way. This trail is very peaceful and serene, and Conserving Carolinas--who maintains the trail--has done an excellent job of clearing up debris post Helene. This trail also connects to Trombatore Trail once you reach the scenic pastures, so you can essentially double your trail distance and elevation gain if you want to do an out and back, or if you hike with a friend, you could leave one car at either access point for a point to point hike.

Another trip to Strawberry Gap Trail although this time I came by way of the Trombatore Trail down to the trailhead and in the fall season! Overall a nice trail but again people have no respect to the very visible signs (posted in photos) that no dogs allowed. Passed a guy coming up with not one dog but two along with with six or seven other friends. You mean nobody in that group could read and maybe encourage their friend to think about others instead of himself and his own stupidity? Unreal. Probably the same people who trash our trails and parks because it’s all about them.

Strawberry Gap is a wonderful wooded, mountain trail hike. Going up, moderate intensity but trail is well maintained and under tree canopy so covered by the sun. With an average waling group, it took us 40 min to reach Ferguson peak, 35 min back to parking lot. There is a first, small look out when you reach Ferguson peak., but keep going around the corner to the larger viewing platform.

Lovely hike! I am young and fit so this was relatively easy. Come prepared for steep inclines at the start and then rolling hills. Great picnic spot at the end. Easy to access and plenty of parking. With recent rain it was wet but not slippery. Just a little muddy but very foggy! I suppose the views are better in the warmer months but the flora was awesome and beautiful! Took 2 hours round trip....
