Take a walk back in time and visit the birthplace of Governor Zebulon Baird Vance. Its an easy ride from Asheville, out in the country. The 1800 s cabin is a place to learn and see how our forefathers lived. It was back in a day of simplicity, where the stress of the day was all about gathering food and keeping warm. A time of gathering around the fireplace in the colder months, where all meals were prepared. While the living was harsh, it was certainly less complicated than our world today. Bring a picnic when you visit and sit under an old oak tree, because the grounds around the Vance Homestead are picturesque and inviting. The buildings on the property are extremely well maintained and interesting to see with some original furnishings.
Bathrooms are offered on site and are also well maintained. Overall, a great stop on our way to drive some of the Blue Ridge Parkway and would definitely recommend for a short, 15-30...

Friendly and welcoming staff! They give you a little laminated piece of paper with one side showing the layout of the property, and the other side showing the uses/history behind each building.
Small but very information-filled museum. A great, neutral peek into an important part of history for the area, the state, and the country.
There are also some clean restrooms and a shelter with picnic tables.
Definitely recommend if you have some extra time while staying in Asheville, exploring Weaverville, or driving along the Blue...
