Frost Fire Park — Attraction in North Dakota

Pretty disappointed. After all the hype, and the donations that many of us made, Frosty can't seem to get it together. It's Boxing Day, and there is a brand new Chairlift sitting there, not open. If you call the hill, you get 3 different answers as to why. One girl said "we made snow for 2 weeks, then it all melted and now we have to start over." One person said that the "new Chair doesn't have a permit." And now the website says: "Due to contractual obligiations that have not been met opening is temporarily delayed." Whatever that means. I asked for a refund on the Gift Cards that we bought for the holidays, since we won't be skiing there any time soon and I was told, "If the hill doesn't open all year, you can probably get your money back in the spring." Wanted to up my jump and rail game and needed some help. I’ve lived in NC, NY, CA and have moved 15 time in the past 15 years and can honestly say ForstFire Park is my new home on the weekends. I asked for an instructor to help me with rails and jumps and I was thankfully directed to Brent. I highly recommend Brent not only for his experience and knowledge but for his great approach. Had a hard time finding the stuff to do here related to the pembina state rec. Area.

Only one park person who we caught via phone after driving around way too much. He was nice. But the kayak rentals had stopped ( not posted on parks webpage), and the ranger said the new downhill mountain bike trail was closed ...again not posted anywhere...and the restaurant at frost fire wasn't open, again not posted anywhere online or on the door.

This place sucks and is not managed worth a flip. Worst state rec area in state we have been to. Don't...
