This is a great stop if you are driving by on a road trip. I think this interpretive center is located next to or at a highway rest stop.

The staff was extremely friendly. Staff quickly explained there was a tour about to start at the Fort Mandan Historical site (reviewed separately) and that tickets are purchased at this center. Staff gave us easy directions to the Fort as well. We stopped at this interpretive center specifically to learn more about Lewis and Clark and were unaware of the Fort tour. Bonus!

The interpretive center is very well done for a wide age group. There are many interesting information boards. A separate room (Conference room?) had some extra displays and even an interpretive table with a compass and sextant visitors can try out.

An Absolute must see for all US and North American citizens. This center is an expertly constructed authentic small concise museum you can walk through in 30 min or take a couple hours reading detailed amazingly important historical descriptions of Lewis and Clarks expedition with all the rich authentic Indian history of the important Discovery and pre-homesteading period. The museum cost approximately $10 per adult or less and includes the full moderated tour of the amazing Fort Mandan located just a couple miles up the Missouri River shore line. Free parking and restroom at both sites with souvenir shops and snack food and beverages. Please do not miss this opportunity while all this detail and support is being supported...

Very nice place that's a lot bigger than it looks. Take your kids and have them do the junior Ranger thing. The oath at the end is awesome, although a little long we loved it as we heard a little girl take her junior Ranger oath. Plus, it's not just about Lewis and Clark. They talk about much more than I didn't know about and about the origins of farming in the area. We didn't go to the ban deck view. Wish we had now. It looked too have an amazing view. Oh, and just give yourself 5 to 10 minutes to get to the fort They have tours on the hour. We almost missed the turn, if you get to the dirt road, you just passed it. And at the dead end loop there is a beautiful view of the river and lots of paths to walk...
