This is our second time staying here in 3 years. It is such a hidden gem outside of Theodore Roosevelt national Park. The rustic campsites are so awesome and spaced out so well with lots of green space between them and all of them have a pretty view of the bluffs around the campground. There's lots of access to hiking trails here as well.
The campground host in the rangers are all very friendly and very helpful and they are effective at their jobs. We needed a ranger to come to the ranger station and he had his phone number on the door so we called him and he showed up immediately. Then when we forgot to pick up our dog's poop and left our campsite, I texted him and apologized and asked if they could take care of it which they said they would! Now that's what I call service and taking your job seriously.
I'm not going to bother listing any pecans to staying at this place because they will be closing up for the rest of the 2025 season to do something like $4 million worth the upgrades to the place which is including adding more campsites and putting in more bathroom and shower facilities.
This is a diamond in the rough. I'm excited to see how North Dakota state parks transforms this place after the 2025 season. I will definitely be back for the...
Read moreThis is a really beautiful state park, just outside of Medora and close to the south entrance to Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
The sites are nicely spaced out, so you have privacy, peace and quiet. Our site was nice and level, as were the others we observed. There are 30A and 50A electrical hookups, but no water or septic. There are potable water spigots located throughout the campground, so fill-up your fresh water tank before you park. There is also a dump station. Sites all have a picnic table & fire pit and gorgeous views of the surrounding hills.
This campground also has corrals for equestrian campers, as well as tent sites. There are clean restrooms with showers at no charge to registered campers. There are also hiking and riding trails nearby. We really enjoyed our stay. It is a great campground for adults - not much to entertain kiddos as far as playgrounds and such. But there is much to do nearby, including the Cowboy Museum and a musical show in Medora and lots to see in the N.P. Heading east after leaving Medora, be on the lookout for the Enchanted Highway near Dickson, where there are over a half dozen...
Read moreWe found this hidden gem online and made our reservation the same way. It's conveniently located just a couple miles south of Medora and tucked away in a quiet valley very close to the Little Missouri River and has access to the Maah Daah Hey Trail. The $12 camp ground fee and $5 one-day SP entrance fee (and, $4 online reservation fee) were very reasonable for the pleasant accomodations and amenities. During our two-night stay, we had two different wooded camp sites. Each site has a fire pit, picnic table and plenty of room for a large tent or pop-up. Other sites were in the grassy clearing to accomodate large RVs. Amenities include: 6 pay showers ($1 for 8 minutes of lovely, hot water) with hot water at the sinks, too, latrines, 2 water spickets with refreshing potable water (we filled water bottles every day and enjoyed the cool, crisp water), and even horse corrals for campers pulling horse trailers (not us). After arriving and discovering that there was always plenty of room and some available sites, we decided our next stay at Sully, we wouldn't need to reserve online (and pay...
