I really wanted to give this place an average rating as the people are nice and it is generally clean but it is really impossible to do so. The place is way past its prime and needs a facelift. I stayed in the tower which was supposed to have the best rooms in the place. If they are the best I'd sure hate to see the worst!. The room was clean but Dark As a Dungeon! There was one table lamp with a badly scarred shade. The other two lights by the bed had little candelabra bulbs in them and gave very little light at all. There were gooseneck reading lights underneath them but they were limited in their coverage.
The bathroom was spacious and kept very clean with the usual amenities, shampoo, conditioner, and hand lotion. The towels were decent but the bath mat was pretty well worn with threads hanging off of it. There was a small refrigerator and microwave and a vending machine in the hall for sodas and water. The room itself showed multitudinous signs of wear with nicks and scratches in the furniture and a very scarred lampshade. There is an in-room Keurig coffee maker with four pods per day. The heat worked well even though it was a bit noisy.
The casino itself is nothing to write home about. It is extremely small, full of slot machines and smoking is allowed although there is a small, non-smoking slot machine Casino down the hall. There are 6 gaming tables, Blackjack and some form of Poker but only two were being dealt. There is no roulette or craps table. As far as I saw the minimum table bet was $5.
The buffet was adequate with good chicken and pork chops with a very decent mushroom gravy. There was also a fairly good selection of sides and a somewhat sparse dessert table. The usual Softdrink Machine was available as well. The furnishings themselves were extremely tired, the stuffing was actually coming out of some of the booth benches. By the way, the buffet never opens on time, usually about 10 minutes late. The buffet is open for breakfast at around 7 and dinner at around 5. It closes down late at night and there is nothing else available until breakfast and there is no other place to eat in the immediate area. The people running the buffet were very nice and cheerful.
There is a snack bar with a decent menu where I had the driest hamburger I have ever eaten in my entire life. I will certainly say you get plenty for your money though because it is quite large and the onion rings and fries as sides are really monstrous. Strangely enough, my soda was served in a small styrofoam hot cup but I did get free refills. Once again the people here were very pleasant and the service was efficient.
Check-in was also efficient and the people were, as everyone else here was, very pleasant.
Would I stay here again? I'd have to say no even though it is painful to do so because the people are so nice. The place is kind of depressing and sad because of all the cosmetic problems it has, the very dark room and the casino is really not very busy. It gives you the impression of something that might have been really great back about 10 or 15 years ago and then has been allowed to go slowly downhill.
All in all...
Read moreI stayed here for 21 days straight on a work assignment. I stayed in the newer side for the whole time. I got a pretty good feel for this place during that time.
The Good: the air conditioning works and the beds or comfortable
The Bad: Their kiosks are down slot which means they can't honor the "heroes discount" they offer.
The when my neighbors would flush their toilet their business would come out my toilet, sometimes with enough speed/force to splash my while I'm brushing my teeth in the morning.
When room service cleans your room they do nothing but throw the comforter back on the bed, maybe if the trash is overflowing they will take it, but if it hasn't made it into the trash can they will leave everything including dirty wash clothes and towels, only sometimes do you get replacement soap bottles.
Grillerz would take nearly 30 min to cook my food when I would only order a simple sandwich or nachos and there were very few customers
Grillerz would also serve me old stale meat and tell me it was my fault because i came in so late (an hour or two before they close)
The steakhouse Fires Edge had equally poor service, my first experience was good to be honest. My second experience I had to ask for part of my order before I left, I didn't get checked on a single time, my food was cooked incorrectly, the staff was abrasive/challenging in asking what I do for a living.
The lounge on the back side of the casino had the worst service and practically nothing to serve for drinks.
The the toilets on the casino floors always had piss all over them and after going in there your shoes would be sticky, I flushed the toilet and more yellow came back up to refill it.
My room key didn't work nearly every day for the first 2 weeks of my stay and the front desk told me it's because I was keeping my room key in my wallet.
Overall customer service isn't a priority here, or sanitation or servicing their machines. During my stay this place seemed like it was constantly falling apart and unable to catch up on basic expectations..
I'm a pretty understanding customer having worked in food service/customer service for about 10 years, every time I spent money downstairs here was...

Fire Edges breakfast buffet on the weekends is delicious! The orange juice is freshly squeezed too! The biscuits and gravy was delicious. I’m picky about bacon and this bacon was perfectly cooked! The STEAKS are AMAZING! Over several days I tried the porterhouse, T bone and tomahawk! I love the garlic mashed potatoes too! Grillerz Snack Bar has great Jalapeno Poppers, Fried Green Beans, pizza and chicken! Sky brews Carmel Macchiato was delicious! The maple donut was good aswell! The blueberry cheesecake ice cream is delicious with the macaroons on the side! Definitely recommend visitors to check out the website for restaurant hours.
I prefer The Tower verse The Lodge for room accommodations; stayed in both to see which is better for my needs at this time. The Tower is the updated side of hotel. It’s clean and comfortable.
The tv didn’t work on the lodge side and the tub water filled up to above ankles when showering. The counter sink drained very slowly aswell. The rooms on lodge side are a bit stuffy. For 1-2 nights it’s not bad. Really a matter of personal preference. If staying several nights I would recommend the Tower side. The lodge side does have a coin washer and dryer if needed, which is nice if staying several days/weeks. Beds in both sectors of hotel are comfortable and clean. Elevators are functional with no issues. Vending and Ice machines on each floor.
For the Casino; table games are currently Wednesday-Saturday. The Sportsbook room is amazing! I enjoyed watching the Super Bowl across multiple TVs! The chairs are comfy. Both local’s and visitors were present and the vibes were awesome!
This facility appears to be a tight nit community. From my observation the staff and locals all know each other and are friendly to each other. Like anywhere in the world you will come across friendly people and those who are not so friendly. It’s a pretty...
