I only gave this place one star because I had to in order to write a review. From the moment we walked in we felt unwelcome. My family was in town for our family reunion and we all are a big wine family so like we did the year before we decided to take a wine tour through northeast. This year we decided to inclide South Shore Winery. There were 15 people in our group. Therefore, we called ahead and secured our spot. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a bunch of moaning and "o my God are you serious'". The employee pouring behind the counter (Ken) had to have been the worst part about our experience though. He not only insulted me but my entire family brought in from 5 different states, stating "o you (insert family name here) girls should know better, refering to only the women of the group being wrong for going out "drinking", especially since one of my family members owned a bar HE (Ken) use to not only deliver mail to but drank at quite regularly! We chalked that one up to possibly being a joke but when I refered to an awful tasting wine "their award winning" wine getting someone drunk ( due to the dreadfully noticeable alcohol content) Ken said "the only word you hear after Drunk is Exit" he literally yelled at me for saying the word drunk in an establishment that serves alcoholic beverages. No I was not drunk I literally had two samples before he said this to me. My whole family was shocked. Nobody knew what to say or think the whole room got quite until someone said "she was only kidding" he went on to lecture her about how he doesn't care and said can't any of you read the sign which said "anyone who appears to be intoxicated will not be served" not anyone who uses the word drunk will be publicly humiliated! No that's not where the embarrassment stopped. Someone else in my family who felt he was over reacting spoke up and said "if you're worrying about us drinking and driving don't worry we have D,D's" who we later found out were being harassed (while they sat and waited in the gift shop)by being asked repeadedly if they were going to buy something and were being followed around like a hawk, as if they were going to steal something. I was so embarrassed by the pervious multiple demeaning remarks by Ken that I stepped outside. Five minutes later my family comes out and tells me about the rest of their experience as it turns out Ken was not done attacking. South Shore/Mazza wineries is currently running a promotion if you text a number you receive 6 free wine samples for which one of my family members signed up for. After she used her three of six tokens Ken told her she was no longer allowed to use anymore because he couldn't keep track of how many tokens she had used. In my opinion if you are running a promotion you should follow through with the reward. My family being the non-alcoholics we are (contrary to Ken's belief) felt that was a lot to begin with but we were told we could use them at a later date so we figured we'd save them. Ken however "shut off" one of my family members after three samples. We were not loud, we were not belligerent, we were there to talk and enjoy some wine with our family and he completely ruined our experience and unfortunately has put a bad name on South Shore Winery in Oklahoma, California, Delaware, Arkansas, and through out ...

The place is beautiful! I went there on a wine tour (18 people) on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and we were stopped by Coldness before we even made it halfway downstairs! No greeting, no welcome, no smile! We were told we were not allowed to have flights only glasses or bottles. We were escorted to a back dungeon room without given an option.I noticed EVERYONE else at the bar had flights. If you do not wish to have the tour bus or cannot accommodate 18 people then simply take your winery off the list. I went to look at the wine to purchase a bottle and was told I wasn’t allowed to leave with my glass. I explained I wasn’t trying to leave, I was trying to buy a bottle of wine and pay my bill. I said, “but since you mentioned it, I would like a plastic cup to go sit outside.” They responded, “we’re out of them.” I felt very unwelcome. I left without finishing my slushy or buying a bottle of wine. There are far too many wineries with great service around to be treated like I am a bother. I won’t ever...

The biggest problem is that they were understaffed. We were there on Labor day and there was only one employee working. At one point there was about 15 customers tasting around the bar. The employee was so slow. She walked away twice, not sure if she was ringing out customers or getting more wine, but it resulted in more waiting. It was our longest winery visit that weekend. She also messed up the tasting chips. She took two from one friend and none from the other and couldn't figure out why the chips were off. The prices did seem reasonable. I think they may have actually come down over the last few years, but there was no chance I was buying a bottle. I didn't want to wait for her to finish sampling for other customers, nor did I want to make them wait for me. We went to the cafe after, which was quite lovely, however same problem... understaffed. There was only one...

Incredible winery with a nice selection and even nicer people! We were passing through town and felt a bit underdressed but decided to stop by anyway and were so glad we did! We felt instantly comfortable in the space and were greeted by the sweetest person who shared a bit of the history with us! They were nearby if we needed anything but allowed us plenty of space to browse at our leisure and we ultimately ended up deciding to stay for a tasting! We were able to try several wines we were interested in as well as one of their specials and ended up coming home with several bottles of new favorites! Both the person who greeted us and the person who did our testing were incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and kind! The space is absolutely breathtaking and worth a visit all on it's own! Plenty of parking in an open lot as well. Highly recommend!

Went to a wedding at 1120 Freeport Rd. It is NOT ADA compliant. The woman running the place is nasty. When asked for a chair to sit because the ramp is not accessible she asked “well where is your chair!?” I said, “the ramp isn’t accessible.” She scoffed and mumbled something about getting a chair. She glared at guests at the end of wedding when packing up. She made the bride cry the day prior because she did zero communication. Really should get someone personable and willing to work with guests. Right now would NOT recommend this venue. Especially if you have guests with accessibility needs.

A perfect place. Located in a building built in the 1860’s, you can feel the history as soon as you step into the winery. There are acoustics that are unmatched from the untouched stone cellar which adds to the experience of being in a building with such a rich history attached to it. The servers are personable and are so knowledgeable and friendly. A great selection of wines are available, even accommodating to non-alcoholic drinks which is always welcomed. If you’re passing through this part of PA, do yourself the favor of this experience.
