The BDB is a 5 star walk ruined sometimes by speeding bicyclist and the ever present dark and dangerous walking conditions from the NLR parking lot to the beginning of the BDB. There are presently 7 lights that are out at the very beginning of the NLR side beginning in the parking lot. There is no excuse for this. The light fixtures are there for a reason. Maintenance... do your job... please! I fell off the curb last night because of the darkness. This is a dangerous problem that can be remedied in minutes. My other concern is also a dangerous one: the ever present flow of speeding bicyclist. Their presence demands that walkers be constantly vigilant of them. If you are walking with someone or as a small family with children and a dog you are at great peril to be struck by a bicyclist especially from behind. It ruins the walk to have to be constantly looking backwards especially if you are enjoying music from your ear buds. Bicyclist have miles of paved riding trails at either end of the bridge and I don't understand why they are not being required to dismount their bikes and walk it across the BDB. It would be so much more enjoyable and safe for everyone, including the bicyclist. It's just a matter of time, if it hasn't already happened, before some child or pedestrian is seriously injured . If these preventions were implemented I think the BDB would be one of Little Rock's...
Read moreI enjoyed the walk, very beautiful, although, the railing was so tall it was hard for me to video the walk. But I understand the need for the railing. It's a very tall bridge that's over a very rapidly flowing Arkansas River. Should someone fall from that height it would be fatal. There are lots of readings along the bridge that tells about the river, the Dam, and the natural birds to that area. I was lucky, or blessed by God, it was supposed to be closed the day I went, for maintenance, however, the crane wasn't able to get there that day so it stayed open. If you watch my video, I read each plaque as I went through along with the information regarding the history of the River and Park. I thought it was interesting, that the local Doctors helped to pay for it, in an effort to keep the population healthy. It must be working. The whole time I've visited this area, I've only seen two other people who were obese. I believe just going over the bridge was worth the money to come here. I've seen so much more though. This was truly, an awesome get...
