Favorite place to hike and get away to nature. Very close to the city! Views of everything from downtown to Pinnacle and everything in between! There is quite a bit to explore here if you are adventurous, explore down every well worn trail, there are often surprise vista's and shady hammock spots down at the end if you are willing risk a little bit of rock climbing! There is also a paved, tree lined path for those of us not fans hanging out on cliff edges. The park is accessible year round. Pro tip: If you want to avoid hiking up to the top, park outside of the Fort Roots center. There is a small unmarked parking lot that let's walk out onto the top of...

This is a nice walk that's convenient in location. It has a fairly level paved trail to the overlook of the rock quarry & Arkansas River below. In fall time the trees can be especially beautiful with bright yellow & orange hues contrasting with green pines. You can see the State Capital off in the distance from here. I like how peaceful the walk is, there are usually few people here at a time. There is a gazebo to sit & enjoy the scenery on the right branch of the trail. I highly recommend stopping by here for a little walk & quick fresh air fix if you're in the area. The view is sure to give you a little taste of being on top...

This is a nice paved walking trail. Beautiful views and peacefully quiet. Can be a little uneven in spots, so don't focus on Pokemon Go too much or you may fall on your face. Because it is paved when you are not under tree cover it can get really hot, so be aware during the summer time and make sure you don't overheat. There is no playground, drinking fountain or bathroom near the trailhead. Decidedly dog friendly, we always see a lot. Starts about 1/4th way, through, one direction ends at a gazebo and the other ends at University of Arkansas-Tech (just the...

Easy parking and no admission fee. No bathrooms or facilities at the top parking lot area. No overnight parking. Paths start out on black top then switch over to dirt/Rock. If you go with small children leash them while on the top trails. Its very dangerous for unsupervised children. Over I enjoyed myself and hiked out on the dangerous cliff trail down to the river. About 1.25 miles out and back on this trail in about 35 min. Take water and take your time, great views.
