Others may have had amazing experiences at this vineyard, but I can only mention my experience and mine was disappointing. I'm a red wine guy, and so I can't comment on their white wines. But my wife did mention she liked their Gewurztraminer. The reds were decent, but not something I felt inclined to buy. Regarding our tasting experience, it felt like our wine steward was more interested in hearing exotic stories about Spain, English breakfasts, blood pudding, and cured meats narrated by folks sitting besides us (and catered to by another steward), rather than talking to us or keeping us engaged. To her credit, she did mention what notes and flavors we were going to taste in the next wine, but that description was already listed in the tasting menu. Instead, simple talk such as "Where're you guys from, what brings you here, etc.?" goes a long way. We may not end up buying a bottle of wine, but we surely would've left with a good taste. Instead, I don't think I'm going to recommend this place to anybody. I'm actually looking forward to visiting Clyde's Cider Mill in Old Mystic, which might be low-key for wines, but may have people with better interpersonal skills...
Read moreThe place is beautiful, and I really enjoyed the wine, although while my husband and I were doing a tasting, the lady that was doing it hardly paid any attention to us, and just poured to sample, no description of the wine, because she was too preoccupied with the couple next to us. When it came time to pay for the tasting it took her quite some time to get back over to us, so we told her we would go inside to pay. She then followed us inside like she believed we would skip out without paying, when we just wanted to pay and get a few bottles to go. She treated us so poorly that we didn’t even buy any bottles at your vineyard, because why should we give you guys business when you can’t treat your customers correctly. We ended up going to a place nearby and another couple that was there doing a tasting had said they had the same experience with you all, and they left too. We thought the wine was pretty good, but unfortunately will probably not add this place to our...
Read moreThis was my second visit to Jonathan Edward's. I was in town visiting with family and decided to do a special day with mom. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing. The female employee at the wine bar wasn't at all friendly and patient. It was almost as if she was annoyed by me asking questions about each varietal offered. Two very kind customers offered more information about the wine verses the employee. I mean, Isn't this a part of the wine tasting experience? I truly don't understand how someone with this level of mannerism would be employed in this arena of work. Clearly she has zero customer service skills or couth. This is NOT something I've experienced in all of my wine tasting experiences. In addition, we had befriended a couple that had mentioned how poor the attitude of this employee was, on multiple occasions. It's a shame that one individual can create a black cloud over such a lovely place. I will not...
