It's truly one of the most beautiful places to visit and experience over the entire East Coast. Extremely well kept ocean front property open to the public. Both sides are fitted with portable restrooms. Lounging and recreational area that spans from thirty to even a whopping one hundred yards wide at some locations up and down the beach. The white sand is absolutely breath taking. I personally would say this beach is most definitely suited to have the entire family come visit. With many accomodations for night life and even mini golf for the kids. OAJ airport only half hours driving time away. Making this a great place to fly into. The parking at the ocean front is currently free and quite spacious. The parking is unpaved but features hard packed gravel and sand. Shopping includes Publix and Walmart for general needs and food. The people are super friendly to one another and the island itself has a very peaceful overall vibe. With an extremely large variety, the lodging options are not limited to hotels and inns. Also Catering to the traveling RV enthusiast or the weekend warrior. RV parks, and even massive beach homes available to rent. Topsail Island would be an ideal place to tie the knot if you were considering it as an option. I would definitely say it's an affordable way to have the entire family be present for an entire weekend or week. It truly is a little...
Β Β Β Read moreMy grandma would treat the family to a yearly trip here. She died this year, and wonβt get another trip to the island. It was her favorite place to be, a quiet little beach with her family. I hope we can continue to go here in her honor.
It isnβt the bustling loud beaches of Myrtle or Virginia Beach, it isnβt the long stretched out land of Outer Banks with their numerous loud restaurants and growing tourist traps. This is a community, a community that allows us to use their beach for a week at a time. Instead of a Ferris wheel you get a real sea turtle hospital, instead of a large chain Buffet there is are small local restaurants. This is a beach you go to to be with your family and enjoy the natural splendor of the ocean, not to party and hook up.
I donβt want too many to know about this gem of an island, but also I want to support them however we can. Go visit, but be respectful, and keep your back porch lights off for...
Β Β Β Read moreThe island itself is very nice. The beaches are clean and uncrowded. The surf is mostly calm and if you know what you are doing the fishing can be good. There's only one problem. The restaurants. Half of them will not do takeout orders, close very early or offer to call you back during a time slot to take your order... that's if they even answer the phone. It's in the offseason right now and isn't super crowded. If they can't handle the business now it's highly unlikely they'll be able to handle peak season business. The sidewalks roll up here. Also, if you are a fisherman and haven't been here make sure to bring the tackle you need. This isn't like Hatteras Island where there are several fully stocked tackle and bait shops with highly knowledgeable staff. The shelves are nearly bare with very little selection in most. And there are really very few here. If not for that this island would get 5 stars. The beach and...
