This place is exactly what people call "PARADISE." 😍❤
I totally fell in love with this island. During my first visit in Saipan in the summer of 2005, we were not able to visit Managaha. So, when I finally revisited my family in 2016, I made it a point to convince our mother to allow us to have a glimpse of this wonderful island.
Curious about the best features about Managaha probably like no other place in this world? (As to my experience lang ha.)
First of all, the 8 of us went there for FREE. Take note, we paid as in ZERO cents for the fare! 😁 T'was a good thing that our kuya knows someone at the pier from whom he requested to reserve us seats in the ferry boat.
As we go to the island, I saw tourists parasailing in the nearby beaches. It felt great seeing Saipan from a different angle.
The excitement. The goosebumps. The unraveling happiness from within me. l felt them all together at the same time.
Next thing? Touch down. As we landed at Managahe Pier, the excitement leveled up way much higher.
I took many pictures along with the many other tourists.
In the island, we went straight to a certain isolated cottage and stayed there until we left that afternoon.
Curious about how much the cottage rental cost? Nahh. T'was also for FREE!
No entrance fee. No surcharge. No fees for the amenities. Nothing at all. Can you believe that!? Where in the world do you even get things for FREE now-a-days when you are on vacation? Hahaha
Of course, the food are not served for free. But no worries, you can bring your own "baon" -- merienda and lunch. You may opt to do barbeque coz there are grills available, just bring your own charcs though. 😊
But... what is really special about Managaha?
NOTHING.... nothing else but Managaha herself.
Her sand is white and soft. You'd need not to wear slippers as you walk through her shores.
Her water is crystal clear. (Just imagine the scene when Moana was little and first found the Heart of Te Fiti. That's exactly how the water's like. 🏊) No need to enhance the color of your photos. Your camera will probably capture the best photos you'd ever have.
Wanna go snorkeling.... Sure!
SNORKELING IS FREE 😍❤ So dare not to forget to bring your goggles, or else.... or else you'd regret it for the rest of your life! Hahaha
The fishes there are "makukulit." You could swim after them or some of them will come to you. They would totally play with you in the water.
Even at the shore, you'd be able to see tiny fishes... And as you move a little deeper, varieties of schools of fishes are like everywhere.. I was even able to meet Nemo and Dory, pero ibang kulay nga lang hahaha. 😁 (How I wish I had my own action camera at that time. Sayang. Wala kasi e. Hehe)
The coral reefs come in different colors, shapes and sizes. The biggest I saw was the more or less 1.5m wide mushroom-shaped coral that comes in a combination of lavander and yellow. Too bad I do not have my aqua shoes at that time kaya I was not able to hop from one coral to another from time to time. huhu 😢
All in-all, I actually stayed in the water for five (5) long hours with only one 15-minute break in between just to take my lunch. Wahahaha! 😂 That's how driven I was by the water and the cute, colorful, and playful fishes. 🐟🐠🐡
The restrooms and shower areas were so clean and accessible.
It's just sad that they do not allow an overnight stay in the island, so you really have no choice but to bid the island a sweet good-bye.
Can you imagine that kind of feeling as you leave the Island but you wish you don't have to? That you hope it's another day and you are coming back to her shore once more?
I might have not captured everything then, but the great, wonderful, and astonishing memories in and about the island --- I shall never forget...
So I swear... If time would come that you too will visit Saipan, please make sure to include Managaha Island in your itinerary... You will never regret a thing.
And I know that if you do, in a very special place in your ❤, she will also leave a mark and shall stay...
Read more#1 attraction in Garapan Tiny island kept in it's natural state, 15 min by ferry. Nice gift shop and outdoor/covered restaurant (good prices and quality, small menu). Great beach/sand, tourquoise water, snorkelling, and nature walking.
There is a nice, small, supervised beach with safety buoys next to the ferry pier (NW tip of island). Good for small children. Not good for snorkelling.
Best snorkelling is across from the supervised beach (NE tip of island). BEWARE of the strong current when using this beach. Great fish, OK coral condition.
Take photos of the WWII artilary cannons, foliage, and white sea birds.
Take a tour to get you to/from Garapan town-ferry pier-boat trip-island. $28 return. All tours use the same ferry so don't overpay. I think the $5 island entry fee was cancelled, never had to pay it. Don't DIY a trip to the ferry pier because: there isn't much parking, it's difficult to navigate the roads in that area, and too far to walk from Garapan (See "Saipan Submarine" on Google maps for...
