Cross County Skiing - Groomed trails! No corduroy but lots of woodsy, wide, flat, compacted trails. Some up and down but nothing steep unless you go 2 miles in to Old Mountain Road. They don't set track for classic and you may find the compacted base a little too smooth for skate but it's still enjoyable skiing. Also, the elevation is 600+ feet which makes it much higher than the seacoast and 300 feet higher than Concord so the snow cover is often better. Read moreI frequently walk the peaceful wooded trails here as do lots of dog owners and a few horse riders. Most, not all pick up after their dogs, horse riders not so much. When winter hiking/walking you often find yourself on slippery packed snow (A.K.A. ice). Trails are mostly flat unless heading out to saddle back mt. or on the longer nalmac trail. I'm sure there is a reason it was drained, and there were some remnants of it after all this rain, but it's a bit disappointing to walk the lake trail, only for there to be none. Despite the lacking body of water, the trails are always clean and well kept.
